Title: 28mm Reaver titan
Post by: steders on 05 January 2022, 10:17:24 AM
Quite literally the biggest pain in the arse of anything I've ever built. Piss poor instructions. I didn't have any warping issues or miscasts that others have complained of but its painful anyway. Completely magnetised.
I am pleased with the outcome although it needs weathering which is scaring me to death, if you cock it up its going to be a nightmare to fix.

Looks great  8)

Could you try the weathering on a scrap of plasticard that has various bits stuck on it representing the details on the walker?

Looking good, Stedley  8)

I dread to think what you're going to weather it with though  :o

Hi Steders
Look up Flory washes for weathering.  Aircraft modellers use them.  They are clay based and can be removed with a wet brush if you’re not happy with the result.  Once you are happy a quick matt varnish spray will fix them for handling.

Thanks all, I'll have a look for those weathering washes

Cool beastie, you did a splendid paint job there, no wonder you're worried about weathering.
I don't have any additional suggestions - I like to use weathering powder, but it's not at all easy to remove.
I look forward to see the result - I am building a pair of GW knights and will be facing a similar (but somewhat smaller!) problem too.

I second the Flory washes. I've only used them on model cars and vans, but even there, the ability to just wash them off removes a lot of the stress.

They are quite big bottles, but I imagine that beast will take more than one :o

If you have access to a 3D printer, perhaps you could practice on something like this?

Well then, that puts the Epic in the Titanicus!

Also for consideration, model railroaders use weathering chalks.

Try Flory Models Clay Wash. Completely fool proof

Easy to remove if you go wrong.
