Some of you may know I wrote a wee book called Wargaming the Sugar Islands Campaign about the campaign to capture the Caribbean islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe in 1759.
I've finished the follow up, Against Spain which covers the British campaigns to capture Havana and Manila in 1762.
As with the first book, this too features several skirmish sized scenarios which can be used with your favourite ruleset as well as the key elements of the campaign, leaders, troops involved, maps and illustrations and a guide to where to find the right figures.
Great for Rebels and Patriots and Sharp Practice.

interesting news.
i purchased the "Sugar Islands Campaign" book which is a little gem..very playable scenarios..few troops to set up for some true small historical battles which is, in my opinion and as opposite to "what if" scenarios, the most important thing...i really liked the various troops types choices...maroons, slaves, militias, regulars, armed civilians...is it this new book relating the war against spanish possesions based on similar troop types?..probably my few white painted plastic 1:72 18c. Bourbon Neapolitans (in fact Spanish subjects) and my generic armed natives could find an employment against red clad Airfix AWI British as proxies for that period.

You'll find regulars, militias, sepoys (both loyal and deserters), Spanish dragoons with Scottish names and Filipino tribesmen in this one
And there's simple rules for a beach landing too.
There is so much more to the SYW period than the battles in Europe and North America. Use whatever figures you like - but I want to see pictures

Great stuff! Long had an interest in these two sideshows.
The fly in the ointment at least in 28mm is the absence of suitable Spanish figures, at least that I’m aware of. The nearest I can think of are the Crann Tara Spanish for 1745. I recall looking at them for their potential for the siege of Cartagena in the War of Jenkins Ear.

Crann Tara are what I used.
The Spanish are spot on for these campaigns and Graham did Sepoys, Indian labourers and Havana Militia* - these are all available from Caliver books.
*The Havana militia units are illustrated in uniforms that just post date the campaign, when the garrison and militias were re organised and equipped, but in the absence of any other info, we followed those for the figures. I have other un-uniformed militia and civilian types from the CT labourer packs with added muskets which I used for rural militia
