I have been becoming more serious about moving some of my focus north from China and Manchuria to Siberia. Some of Mark Post's and Cuprum's posts have really resonanted with me as of late. I have always been interested in Kolchack and Semyonov but the more I read the less sympathy, of any kind, do I have for these leaders. The Siberian peasentry themselves and their struggles definitly resonate. The US expeditionary force, particularly the 31st Infantry Regiment, out of Manila, is going to be my concentration. Here are the first two Russian buildings, both First Corps models that I got off eBay that I have painted up.

nicely done. look forward to following developments

interesting tree in the back there

Those look GREAT Lon! :-* :-*
I love the 1st Corp Russian stuff. Especially their church.
-
Thanks fellas. Tom the tree is a 3D printed one that I got off eBay. It was a bit pricey but I do like it and will probably get a couple more if my wallet stops screaming. Todd I haven't decided on a church yet.

Lon,
Take a look at Warbases mdf buildings there's a couple of useful alternatives in their Eastern Front range.( I'm going to pick up the school building at Hammerhead next month. As It's one I've been musing over ever since I made the Shay engine and carriage. )
I did have a little hand in the Russian building range. Nothing glamorous Simon and Mick asked me to tweak the building sculpts Mainly subtle things like adding an edging lip to allow for easier mould pulls.which also had to allow for modular components to be butted up against the buildings whilst trying not to look like something was missing if you chose not to. Then things like the hay ,wood piles benches, etc. Furniture sets for the interior, water pump and trough chickens etc. Plus the hay stacks and dung heap.(which are technically Follies sculpts not Eastern Front pieces. )

Do the roofs lift off? I am looking for an Onion Domed 28mm Church

I thought maybe I recognized your handiwork on those. :D

Good to know! lol

Nice stuff. Loves the cobbled together roof look. Living in areas with little income and harsh weather conditions lends itself to a cobbled look. ;)
-
Thanks to Mark for the tip and to all the rest for the nice sentiments. Leapsnbounds, yes, the roofs lift off and the interiors have details.

Splendid. I’m sure the twisted evil of the half Buryat, half Cossack Semenov will grow on you, as well as that fella named Von Ungern whatshisname?
For me the attraction is a sort of Far East ‘Heart of Darkness’

After months of recovery from surgery and a bout of covid I have finally managed to get some painting mojo back. I finished painting another of the Siberian buildings. This one is from Grand Manner, one of my favorite resin terrain makers. I also managed to actually finish painting a mini as well. Agento Kyu, one of the Kempeitai's main men in Siberie (and soon to be Guam)

Looks great!

They look great. I can feel the giant mosquitoes of the northern steppe as we speak.

Great work Lon

Some more progress. A rustic shed (concealing who knows what) and some evergreens.

I love the shed and the houses from the before. I must do some better Siberia terrain.
-
I like the look of that shed
-
The buildings look particularly good, the lichen on the shed roof is a nice touch. I've tried to do something similar in the past using flock and it looked just like flock :( yours looks much better.
I didn't realise you'd been recovering for so long, hope you're good now. :)
Quick question, can you remember who the manufacturer of Agento Kyu is?
Stay safe

Now your talking...The Americans were unfortunate in trusting their Japanese allies .who put them in harms way many times. Love the buildings.
-
John,
Thanks,I am much better! I used static grass for the shed roof. I apply it by hand and then immediately after rap the under side with the side of my exacto blade. That seems to help to make it stand up a bit better. I thought that Agento Kyu was made by Artisan but I can't find him on their page. He was an eBay purchase.
Juergan,
The tension between the Japanese and the other allies makes for interesting possibilites for a campaign here. I am more interested in what if possibilities for Japanese, American and European troops with partisans and Bolsheviks. There were a couple of good dust ups though between American troops and partisans that would make good gaming.

Thanks for the response on Agent Kyu, not to worry. The static grass looks better than that, good result. I'm just on my way north from Provence in France with a bag full of different lichen, one of which is a fine thread like specimen and looks just like your roof. I'm hoping to stick some on a couple of my buildings and see how well it lasts.
Cheers

I am back in Siberia after concentrating on China and other esoterica. My change in focus is mostly due to the imminent closing of Grand Manner castings. I could not resist the chance to order a bunch of terrain for my Siberian table. Here are some animal pens and corrals (the cattle and horses driven into the forest by the cautious owners to avoid confiscation by any of the many marauding factions but mostly that right bastard Semenov)

And the brave partisan defenders ready to deal in lead with all comers. This is not my painting but that of the great Grimm, who is not as active on LAF these days, preferring to be a rocking DJ.

Great scenery and minis! Copplestone RCW are my favorite minis for this era, the first ones I bought, and I always enjoy to see them in action! :)

Wonderful terrain and minis. Nice work.
