Title: Citadel Spacefarers 25mm

For some time i've been collecting and painting the old 1980s Citadel Spacefarers range. Many repaints from the days we used to fight Traveller games with them on Judges Guild starship deckplans. Others since added as gifts from friends and from ebay. I've catalogued my progress so far over at my blog here

Feel good about yourself Ian, they were passed on to
up & coming Wargamers at the School's club a couple
of years ago, along with most of mine. A few live on
as smaller species in my 28mm Galaxy. :)

A real blast from the past and I think probably the first sci fi rules and figures that I bought. Still have the rules but the figures went years ago now. I remember being disappointed that the range of figures was never expanded to enable all the different possibilities to be modelled (especially the less well equipped units that you were supposed to start out with).

I did a blog interview back in 2015 with Tony Ackland who said he'd sculpted most of the bikes/robots - the giant robot sentinel was actually sculpted for his range of 'Tony Ackland Miniatures' that was released by Citadel... they then became the Citadel 54mm Star Pirates.

I had 2 of them but one of them crumbled ( might be from a higher lead content + high humidity ??? :( )....come to think of it I have had several citadel minis from that time which did that ... & 2 of them were painted.!!!!..

Lead rot... very poor quality alloys used at some periods along with maybe storing minis in wooden boxes? I've had to take my stuff out of IKEA storage since having a bunch of Citadel medieval minis crack :-[

In a nostalgia hit I bought a copy off e-bay.
I think I might use them when I renew my
15mm Sci-Fi.

prob. a sign of age, but I increasingly prefer it to a lot of modern stuff. But paint-jobs like yours make all the difference.
