Just a quickie paintjob, while i'm waiting for various bits of the aircraft carrier to dry.
BUF Cadets for VBCW.

The Cadets are Perry's Mafeking Boy Scouts, Rifles/Brens from BAM, Bergmans from Bungle (cheers!), with a bit of greenstuff to make them hold the weapon (mounted on 1p's as they are tiny).

The lefthand officer is from Foundry's Homeguard range, the other two are from Musketeer.

The General is from Artizan, and the cameraman is from BAM.
The "s" on the armband stands for students, in this case....entitling them to travelling free on public transport.... ;)
-
Ok that is just alsome! Now all you need is school for them to defend.
-
Very cool and quite scary.
-
Wow! I just wodered what those Perry cadets look like. Thanks for sharing!
I´m not into the BCW but this gives some ideas....in what other conflicts could these be used? What was their original weapon?
-
Originally no weapon.
-
What he said!
Arms by their sides.
I probably made a bit of a botch job of the righthands, in order to have them holding a rifle, but i'm pretty pleased with the result.
:)
What can you use them for - anything that has a cadet force.....
-
did this "Hitler Youth" variation actually exist?
the idea is brillant
-
Excellent. 8)

As far as I know the BUF didn't have a youth wing, but I guess all things are possible.
-
Ingenious use for the boy scouts! :)
Baden-Powell would be spinning in his grave lol
-
or the Perry's be pissed ? ;)
-

I hope not.
:)
-
Now that´s really disturbing. :-X But great overall effect.
-
me neither
You did a good job!
btw
this is not meant as criticism:
since the boys are standing at attention, you think it would be possible to separate the right arm from the body up to over the elbow and bend it slightly forward so that the hand can grip the rifle?
never seen them so close, so I can't judge
-

Yes they did... at least as far as a band went, but I'd guess they had a Cadet Force too, it would be unusual if they didn't for the time. The band wore grey shirts, which again would be the usual contrast for a band as compared to the rank and file, who could well have worn black like the grown-ups.
Good effort that man! :D

Good question - i'm not saying it would be impossible, but they are really tiny figures, and even if you could do that I think it would be more trouble than it would be worth.
Both hands are clenched, and too small to drill, so I reckon you'd still need to redo the hand with greenstuff.

I see

if this works

Boys brigade were supported by the church
There was an attempt to create a youth movement. It was called the Mosley Youth, presumably following the example of the Hitler Youth.
-
so the miniatures are even in line with history
Yup, the battalion looks pretty scary and disturbing, I agree
but I guess that's part of the Art, making little lead people look very real
again, good job!
-
The BUF cadets are slightly less disturbing than the thought of the Anglicans arming the Boy's Brigade. :o
"What would Jesus do Vicar?"
"He'd wait until the main body was at 300 yards and open up with the Vickers Roderick."

Oh I fought against a unit of those last weekend lol I think they were Hastings figures
-
Thats just what i need it some one to sent out the youth brigade on me now
-
Stunning looking figures you have there mate.
-
Those scouts are a great find and turned out very well! I have been using the Perry adult figs for a couple of years after I saw how well they fit with Musketeer IWI range.

Great for conversions. I guess when the Perry's made this range public, they added the scouts. I gots to get me some now.
I do not know the reference to the "Bergmans from Bungle" Can anyone explain this. Thanks

Bungle is one of the forum members. It would appear that he provided Akula with the Bergman SMGs that some of the figures are holding, and Akula was acknowledging this fact in his post. Simples!

haha
since I was born in a certain country where someone's picture was hanging on the wall in classroom and not a cross, I even had the pleasure of doing such preparation, though I don't remember the bayonet exercise, only the marching.
and we did not have such spiffing uniforms....
imagine how my stomach turned upside down when I saw these pics....

I was born in a country that had some similar experience. We had a picture hanging from the wall with a bunch of ridiculous persons, who tried with smart uniforms to seduce kids, but we had not the pleasure for bayonet exercise and such things. We had to practice by our own in the arts of resistance!
but I understand the feeling
Anyhow its an interesting unit with a good paintjob
-
nono, there was no bayonet exercise, at least not at my age then.
speaks for the quality of the paintjob, when the figures are able to evoke such memories ;)
-
No, problem!
You are more lucky than I was!
-
no problem with me either - of course it was a joke
and we did not pluck any shrapnel shards from our butts either
it is the simple context of totalitarian regimes brainwashing their kids
this shows only how lucky people can regard themselves to grow up in a democracy (-;
as far as I can judge, I think it had the opposite effect on us (-;

Indeed !!!
-
Again -
I would hereby like to assure anyone that I did not feel offended in any way by @Bezzo's joke.
Moreover, it seems a good way of unmasking the stupidity of totalitarian ideology!
I am sure I am carrying coals to Newcastle with this here in LAF, so let us just carry on with this attitude :D

unfortunately, I can not attend "Crisis" next week, but maybe Tactica or Action next year?
