A few months back my son asked me to paint a space marine figure for his desk. He is currently playing a Warhammer 40k game on PC and wanted a figure painted by me as a keepsake. I hope he and you LAFer's enjoy my effort. The full article, story, and more pictures of the build can be found on my website www.HistoricalHobbies.com (http://www.HistoricalHobbies.com)
Since it's for display I built it to fit inside a "Bell Clouque" to keep it nice and yes he just wanted "one figure" but Dad always goes overboard!

I don't paint Warhammer figures so this was a fun change of pace!

The Dog is custom and is painted up to look like his newly rescued pup "beans" and looks just like him.

The display lights up using LEDs hidden behind the twisted girder.

This is a beautiful work. I think it will perfectly match the goals you set up for it! :)

Thanks for all the kind words folks I hope it makes it to him in one piece as I mailed it to him a few days ago... I've mailed thousands of figures to people all over the world so I think I packed well enough that it will survive! Here's I picture of his Dog "Beans" that I was trying to capture the look of for the vignette. You can see here what sparked my thought for the additional doggy armor! lol

Impressive work and for a great reason! What electronics did you use for the lighting?

If you stop by my site www.HistoricalHobbies.com (http://www.HistoricalHobbies.com) you can see a much more detailed "how I did it" article. Basically used the existing LEDs and electronics with modifications. ::)
