Personal project and a way to show off painted examples of the Wargames Atlantic Aztecs, that I sell as a retailer (I also have the conquistador set)
My progress thus far:

and some WIP medium infantry with spears.

Always nice to see some Aztecs. What do you think of the figures?

I love the kit. Partially because I did the historical research for these and have my hand in them. I may be a small bit biased.
I'm going to use English descriptions to save my fingers contual typing of Aztec weapons/body armor.
The kit, as it is, can make 10 each of elite Infantry in full suits, 10 medium infantry in a loincloth and Aztec gambeson, and 10 light infantry. This makes it easy to plan army building
The elite infantry can be used to make 2nd captive, Jaguar warriors, coyote priests, and shorted ones.
At a stretch, you can also probably convert otomi warriors from the otomi elite warrior society. The body suit is not set up for eagle warriors but I'm sure it could happen given sufficient conversions.
The medium armored troops are excellent. All of you weaponrsoptions (spears, macahuitl, various ranged) are available. As are novice warriors (with topknot) and 1rst captives (without topknot, generally armed with maca and shield)
The same applies to the unarmored bodies as with the medium. Plus, because there are only 4 shields out of the 6 bodies, it would make sense to build some of your light troops as ranged infantry.
If I had everything I wanted the kit would also have a butterfly back banner and a few more heads without topknots.

The Aztec project is coming along. Two more stands worth of Jaguar Warriors have been added to the first unit.

I've missed a few updates. This will be remedied shortly
Part of my Army of Tenochtitlan project.
5th rank warrior priest on left, Otomi warrior order on right. In glorious HIPS plastic, with light-weight 3d printed resin war banners.
Previous to Wargames Atlantic, your only options for portraying these warrior sub-groups were in pewter and often the sculpts were rather chunky.
I had the back banners printed by a colleague as my machines are busy with customer orders. The details on these sculpts are fantastic.

Very nicely done!
And I’m really impressed that you were involved in the creation - may I ask how this started?
(I dream of something like that for the European Bronze Age…)

Well, around 2011 I graduated with my bachelor's in history.....

I apologize for not getting back to you in a timely manner

These look great, were they done with contrast paint? I see some in the background.
-
Looking great. One thing I found for painting the white patterns on shields is to put on an initial light grey layer of the pattern. It really helps with coverage of the white and is easier to fix any mistakes.
-
For the most part, yes. I blend traditional and contrast use.

No offense taken. We all have a real life.
