Hi all,
Currently creating forces for the middle east theatre/ back of beyond.
Its seems that in addition to the irregular/militia type soldiers employed in the dunsterforce/baku battles Armenians also fought in more well equipped forces.
I have seen reference to the Russian's arming them, but also the creation of the French 'Armenian Legion'.
Does anyone know of some good reference photos for these forces?
From what i have found online the French Armenian Legion seems to have been equipped in a mix of French uniforms, and the Russian equipped seem to be in standard (or at least standard-ish) Russian uniform but with a variety of local hats worn.
Is this a topic anyone has tackled before?
Thanks

Armenian soldiers during this period had mostly Russian uniforms and weapons. During the First World War, military units in the Russian service were formed from Armenian volunteers, and they formed the base of the Armenian military units. In addition, there were Armenian militias who partially used civilian clothes or national clothes. The small cavalry units had clothes similar to the uniform of the Caucasian Cossacks.

The French also had a Armenian Legion in Legionaire desert attire w/ Kepi and scarf to fight the Turks in the 1918-20 Franco-Turkish war.Just Google it and images will appear.
