Title: Outpost Wargame Services closes down
Post by: President Buer on 21 April 2022, 08:31:59 PM
I just went to check if Outpost had reopened after the planned break, I was met by a message  (http://www.outpostwargameservices.co.uk/)that linked to this statement:

NEWS on the Home Front at Outpost Wargame Services

So, you would like to know why Outpost is closed .... As I said on the main site page, further health problems have been identified, these were found when the doctors were taking routine blood tests for the fairly common gallbladder surgery.

Unfortunately it turns out I have a type of blood cancer that without a stem cell transplant will almost certainly turn into an aggressive Leukemia. As luck would have it, my sister has turned out to be a pretty perfect donor so the procedure has a reasonable chance of success. However, I will be just about 'totally out of action' for around 3 months and full recovery can take a year or more.

As you may imagine, Outpost has become a lot less important to my wife and I just now.

Many thanks to all those customers who have supported Outpost over the 25 years (and more!) we have been around - take care, stay well and enjoy your gaming. With a bit of luck and lot of support from the NHS and my family, I do hope to reopen at some point - but for now I just cannot say when that may be.

Jeff Bevan

Hopefully Mr. Bevan can beat this, by all accounts he's a good chap.

I've had very pleasant exchanges with Jeff while placing a few orders for many ships in the last 18 months, hope all goes well for him.

The Outpost website (http://www.outpostwargameservices.co.uk/) appears to have been closed down, hope that doesn't bode poorly for Jeff

I saw that the other day. I'm hoping he just took it down to reduce email enquiries. If you need to check anything from the site you can go here (https://web.archive.org/web/20210615001516/http://www.outpostwargameservices.co.uk/). I'm not sure it captured the PDFs of the Aztec and other South and Central American WAB lists though.

 :(

Such a pity, I dealt with Jeff several times and always found him to be friendly and willing to "find a way" to help with odd figure requests and orders. A genuinely nice guy. RIP.
Sincere condolences to those he leaves behind.

Ah, that's sad. Leukemia is an awful thing, took my best friend too.

Condolences to all who knew Jeff.

The 28mm ranges from Outpost have found a home at Badger Games in the US; does anyone know where the 15mm ranges and the other items (books, etc.) now reside?
