Title: Questions about the SMER Tiger Moth Kit
Post by: aircav on April 25, 2022, 12:50:28 PM
I’ve been looking for a plane for our pulp games and have seen the SMER Tiger moth & wondering if anyone built one of the Smer Tiger Moth kits?
If so, what are the like?

Yes, I have. It’s actually not a bad kit and it is cheap as chips. Limited detail and like a number of their kits has some extraneous details that need sanding off but it goes together without too much trouble. Undercarriage is a bit weak. Best to strengthen it with brass/steel wire when you are rigging it.

Apart from that entirely fit for service as gaming model, probably more so than the new 1/48  Airfix version.

The Modelling Madness website is often a good place for model kit reviews see: https://modelingmadness.com/review/allies/gb/ohtigermoth.htm

Pleasure.

There are raised serial numbers near the tail and raised circles to act as guides for the roundels. About 5- 10 minutes work with a sanding stick if you don't fancy them. I removed mine as the kit was used as a Norwegian Moth. Must go and find it now. I know it needs another round of repairs to the undercart.

For gaming SMER kits are almost ideal.
