I just got my hands on these little beauties. Great Sculpts, tons of choices, perfectly cast. Can't wait to get started! https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2022/05/wargames-atlantic-28mm-conquistadors.html (https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2022/05/wargames-atlantic-28mm-conquistadors.html)

I wonder if you could mix and match this set with Warlord Games Landsknecht plastic sets.
-
These do look a good set - tempting. But resisting so far, mainly as I don’t have an immediate use for them.

I would echo that. Thanks for the review.

Codsticker, I know someone that has Warlord Landsknechts, I will try to get some side-by-sides. Normally WA and Warlord are pretty close size wise
As for myself a good many of these are like to end up as "Steel Bonnets" after cross-pollinating with WA's Wild Irish

Very nice. They look like they would do well for Elizabethan English in Ireland, too.
-
Would probably also work for Border Reivers...
-
As opposed to starting a new topic - are the Wargames Atlantic Conquistadors ranges suitable for Border Reivers and Wardens of the North re the 1585-1615ish heyday?

Billy, I guess the answer to your question is "it depends how picky you want to be with historical accuracy". The figures are mainly dressed in what I would describe as early 16th century clothes, cut very much in the "Continental" style. Whilst some of mercenaries and richer/more fashion conscious people in England would wear such clothing, most pictures I have seen of the "Border Reivers" are in much simpler clothes.....plus you want to game late 16th century ie Elizabeth 1st vs Henry VIII.

Many thanks - a very clear and concise reply really helpful much appreciated :)

Billy, for the period you are looking for I would check out "D'Arlo Figurines" sold by Colonel Bill's. A bit dated but the right period clothing and a nice range. They match perfectly with the old Vendel Range which I think is now sold by Thistle and Rose in the US? I bought some last year and was very pleased with them. Foundry also have some suitable figures in their Elizabethan swashbucklers range.

Aye I have given them a look and their certainly an option - I am procrastinating as to where I want to go for my British Isles black powder era, as the Empress ECW/30 year stuff is God like but I don't know there were in reality many small scale skirmishes during your ECW and 8 year war set ups?
