Thought you might like this.
While I was basing up my minatures for gaming, I got to the end of my tube of plasto, it was beginning to harden and go nasty.
I do hate to waste anything so I stuck the remnants to a base and poked it a bit hoping to make something bloby and nasty that I could use as a nasty ex- human/demon turned in to a pulsating mass of putrid flesh, ideal for Call of Cthulhu.
...and here it is now I have painted it, I haven't come up with a name yet, so any suggestions would be appreciated. I is very, very loosely based on the illustration from the Call of Cthulhu 3rd edition called 'heart of the dark'.
It has been suggested on other forums that it needs more shiny slime which I am working on but here it is for now. Hope you like it.

Call it "Bob". Hard to go wrong with Bob.

Bob the Blob? :)
-
Hmm, Bob as in Benzoate Ostylezene Bicarbonate? lol
-
I would have said "Pustulant Mass" or "Sacofulous Blob".
-
SNIT. From an old comedy routine...I don't remember exactly what it stood for..Synthetic Nuclear (something) (something)...

Icky-Icky-Icky-Ptang-Zoop-Boing
Icky for short.

It kind of reminds me of a creature in a Conan story, can't remember the story name or what book it was in. Conan is fleeing north from the black kingdoms of the south, comes across a building to take shelter in, ghosts band together into a single entity to get the strength to manifest it's self, said creature tears up a group of mercs/bandits camping out on a lower level.
:) Maybe that orifice near the top (and some of the other fleshy folds) needs to be a bit more wet, slimy, obscene looking? I'd make that top one look like a vagina to really freak my players out. :o
I like it. It might be something that manifests when a would-be learner of the black arts gleans a stammering of knowledge from the Necronomicon (spelling?) and incorrectly casts a spell.

It looks to me like a possessed wooden construct, maybe the spirit of a dark young infesting the remains of an ordinary tree,
'woody' perhaps, even kind of resembles woody harrelson.

Ok now to me it looks a little like fast food so how about the Schleesh Kebab

I'm glad 'Bob' was suggested, it saves me doing it.
'Ethel' is of course the other obligatory comedy suggestion.
What sort of name do you want? Is it a single thing - "The" pulsating mass - or is it one of a type of thing - "a" pulsating mass? Is it the pulsating mass from somewhere? Or do you want a more what-it-does name?
A Putrid Mass sounds pretty revolting, and that's more or less what you're calling it already. It needs to look more putrid though, at the moment, because it's not gooey, fleshy or rotten enough, it does look rather woody. In fact, a little like a close-up of pot pourri.
A Blasphemous Mound. A Blasphe-mass. An Eldritch Putrescence. Star Slime. The K'Nagian Mass. A Putrid Horror. The Putrescence from Between. The Lurker in the Woods. The Horror in the Undergrowth. The Primal Horror. Squaarsh. Spore-beast. G'thuggesh. Grey Slime.
Enjoy!

I like Star Slime...sounds like a Bowie tune...
-
All together now: "There's a Star... Slime... Waiting in-between, Lurking in the Undergrowth, never being see-hee-heen... Let the Deep Ones boogie, let the Deep Ones boo-hoo-gie...".
Maybe "Dave" then, as a name.
-
Hey it resembles my mother-in-law whom I have long suspected of being an eldritch slime dripper.
-
If you want it to look more slimy, just give it a coat of high gloss varnish, that should make the colours look wet.
Alternately, just gloss the purple parts and leave the brown matt - it should look like leathery skin (or wood) with pulsing sores, or gloss the brown amd leave the purple matt (that would look pretty repulsive).
Bowie might sound a bit too "upbeat" as a name, how about "Eiwob" - the creature that sucks the music out of your soul.
-
Guys you have been totally fantastic with all the names and comments
I have slimed it up some more so hopefully that should help. Not sure if it is too wet now, it was harder to get a picture of! >:(

I like the Star slime suggestion but am unsure as I always saw it as more terrestrial based, I am leaning toward something like 'Putrescence heart' or 'Horror within'.
I do also really like Red Orc's 'Blasphe-mass', or maybe 'Dr X's Mother in law'...
Anyway what do you all think?
-
Great job . It looks like a protoplasmic nightmare now. Call it Eustace.
-
Yeah. Definately doesn't look like a 'Bob' now... ;)
-
:-* looks fantastic!!!
-
YUCK! Errr... I mean, great job. *L* :)
-
Gross!!! :-X
