Title: Gloire photos from Historicon 06
Post by: PeteMurray on 25 July 2006, 02:31:55 PM
First pictures from Historicon trickled in yesterday. These were all taken by Hiatt Zhao (http://www.thehiatt.com/hiattintl.htm) who participated in one of the pickup games.

Viscomte D'Lessep and his servant Claude in blue, along with the famous swordsman Don Armando and his student Benedicto in red. These loyal servants of the king set off in search of the missing messenger. Hiatt played the Viscomte and Claude, while Jerry controlled Benedicto and Don Armando.

Opposed to them are the military hero Baron von Graudorf and his servant Hans (in yellow) and the wily spy Marquis Fairborne and his bodyguard Edgar (in green), who seek the letters for their own, nefarious purposes. Friends Erik and Ben from Georgia controlling, respectively.

In the course of the game, Benedicto and Don Armando clash with Edgar, as the Marquis tries to abduct the wounded messenger.

Baron von Graudorf and the Bandit Chief duel atop a rocky precipice. (Bandit chief controlled by Ben's dad Jay, thus proving the only thing more satisfying than subduing a poltroon is subduing a poltroon controlled by your friend's dad.)

Edgar prepares to roll a barrel of gunpowder into a swirling melee, while fending off the relentless attacks of Don Armando.

Don Armando and an encounter marker.

I'll post other pictures when I can get them from people.

Great pictures, Pete. Your board looks great (and holds up well to close-ups!)

I'm getting pretty excited about Gloire and I don't even consider myself a "swashbuckling" fan!

Pete,
I really like the road signs.  good reference on them   :)

Happy to hear about your award.  your game was very well done

Mo,
the nice thing about something like Gloire is you really only need a few figures and a small board to have lots of fun.  granted my tavern and layout might be a bit much, but once I build it, I wont need anyting else.

Yes, with the exception of the skinny guy with the pistol, who is by Reaper.

Pete,

I have some pictures from the Friday AM game.  I played the Brigand Chief and his Bandits and was thwarted and thrashed for my indiscretions!

If you want my pics I can e-mail them to you.  Where would you like them sent?

Also, are you going to do the playtesting locally or are you going to include volunteers from across the country?

Thanks,

Pat
