Post by: Hammers on October 10, 2009, 06:34:25 PM
Does anyone know when these came into fashion in Afghanistan/NWF? You never see tthem during the Raj/Great Game era but seem to have become all the rage among Mujahedin (err..., Rambo era?)?

"The hat originated in the Chitral and Gilgit regions of what is now Northern Pakistan. It gained popuarity amongst the Northeastern Pashtun tribes in the early twentieth century largely as a substitute for their large and cumbersome turbans."

I am, but I'm drinking three different things instead. Iced tea, real tea and sugar cane soda from a glass bottle. Errg, that's a lot of sugar...
