Can Zorro save the downtrodden people of California and more importantly
will he steal a kiss from the governors daughter?

All will be revealed in a couple of weeks with some  photos and after action reports....

I can already hear the music....

interesting that the man who followed Douglas Fairbanks as the "king of swashbuckling movies" never played Zorro himself...

Douglas Fairbanks version is fun, but the Tyrone Power version is so much more fun! Has anyone ever seen the Italian Zorro film(1975) starring Alain Delon? Its pretty silly, but I love just about anything Zorro.

I have seen it many times and used to love it as a kid. It's not quite the 'true' zorro, but a good swashbuckling movie in it's own right.

There are so many unheard of Zorro movies out there, for example The Three Swords of Zorro (not all that awesome), and La Gran Aventura Del Zorro. There was even a prono (The Erotic Adventures of Zorro), I'm pretty sure they were sued because they didn't think Zorro was copyrighted by Zorro Productions, Inc. (I think at the time the company was called Gertz Productions). That's actually something I worry for Boothill miniatures and Reaper, who both have blatant Zorro miniatures (rather than being a little more deceptive with The Fox, Masked Avenger, Californian Devil, etc).

On Sat night one of our TV stations had The Mask of Zorro as a late night movie, so naturally the recorder went to work and I watched about 2 hours of it last night. Great cast with the gorgeous Catherine Zeta Jones. My, she has changed since the Darling Buds of May!!  :-* ;D ;)

the Alain Delon Zorro was my movie as a kid and it is not that bad if You accept the humorous approach of that time

a more historical version of the theme is the much older "Black Tulip"  with AD - watch that one!

Yes, great classic movie, though it is not about Zorro at all, but about a swashbuckling character at the eve of the French revolution.

yes, but it is the general theme - the avenger who takes the side of the people against opression - btw, the basic setup was repeated in the AD Zorro

I recall it is after an Alexandre Dumas novel

Yeah, they say that at the start of the movie, but it's a lie. It only borrows the title from Alexandre Dumas but has nothing at all to do with the story of the same name.

Still a good classic movie.

well, there are swords involved, a mask and it is much more romantic then Zorro.  ;)
