Title: All at Sea - Sercey off Sumatra, 1796, Kiss Me Hardy (Game Two)

In the run up to Clotted Lard, the annual Devon Wargames Group Lardy Meeting next month, I have been play testing a scenario using the rules Kiss Me Hardy, recreating the action in 1796 that took place just off the north coast of Sumatra, between French Rear-Admiral Sercey commanding six frigates and Commodore (Captain) Richard Lucas commanding two British 74's, Arrogant and Victorious.

In the first run through, both players went at things full on, leaving both forces badly shot up and seeing a surprising win for the French right at the close.

With a different collection of players, this was an opportunity to see if this scenario could be played in a different way and the game that developed certainly confirmed that, producing a completely different but no less enthralling encounter, with the French force putting on a display that the historical French commander might have been proud of.

Great report, I really enjoyed reading through this one!

How many of your scenarios involve multiple ship per side vs. individual encounters like the Boston / Pelican from prior posts?

Hi and thank you.
The majority of the encounters are single ships or pairs vs singles, probably 80%, because that was the historical breakdown in James’ accounts, which he grouped as single ship and squadron actions.

The different types have required other specific rule additions such as the squadron/fleet break-off rules matched by the ‘option to run’ rules in the single ship meeting type games.
