I finally made a start on my Hebrew army after years of neglect in the lead pile.

Very nice. I will follow your progress with interest.

That's remind me that i have a David vs Goliath project sleeping somewhere lol

One thing to note, for the sake of Biblical accuracy: the Ark was never supposed to be carried "exposed" like that.
A blue cloth must be draped over it whenever it is carried by the priests.

A blue cloth must be draped over it whenever it is carried by the priests.
Now that would be easier to scratch build than the Arc itself.

Necessary to keep people's faces from melting ('specially Nazis).

I've checked my copy of DBA & 'Nazi' is not listed as an enemy of the Hebrew army. lol

Good reading chaps!
Funnily enough we have a full biblical event at the end of the month up here in Manchester.
Visitors are very welcome to come and have a nose around.
We’ve got 20 players, or near enough.
Using WAB V2 rules and lists, in 28mm.
Babylonian, Assyrian, Egyptian, early Indian, early Persian, Sea People, Hittite, etc.
It should be quite a spectacle.

Be sure to take LOTS of lovely close up pictures, & post them here. :D

I am a little jelly as I am half a planet away but I expect some lovely photos to be taken. :)

Sounds cool, a 'third' here for hoping for lots of great pics!

Always nice to see Biblical stuff, particularly when it is so well done.

Thanks gents, I’m a big biblical fan, so many interesting armies. Getting them painted is the challenge…

Wow, I missed this update back in November.
Philistines to fight my Hebrews.
I love your Philistines! Very inspirational.

Unless I'm misunderstanding your meaning here, all of those armies are mentioned throughout the Old Testament, as the Israelites are frequently caught up in the politics and wars of those nations (mostly being ruled/oppressed by them!) The exception being the early Indians. The only time India comes into play in the Old Testament is when it is mentioned as being part of the Persian empire.

Thanks tikitang, I've just finished some Blitzkrieg Miniatures' Midianite Camel Riders:

Great to see this project continuing.
Just reading Dan Carlin's book, The End is Always Near, and the chapter on the bronze age collapse has me thinking about biblicals again.
-
Cyrus, a great thread. I too have Sea Peoples and Hittites, plus Assyrians. Obviously the first two are contemporaneous but the latter dates to 400 years later. I really want a New Kingdom Egyptian army but baulked at the £300+ bill I worked up to buy from Foundry. I'm now tempted by the Red Copper Miniatures range sold by Blitzkrieg and Lancer Miniatures, especially as the latter sells the chariot for under £10 .Infuriatingly the range doesn't include any Egyptian spearman figures which I find quite bizarre. Does anyone know how the Red Copper Egyptians match size-wise with other manufacturers?
-
Thanks gents, it’s a fascinating period with lots of interesting, colourful armies. I think they’re all fairly compatible large 28mm ranges similar in size to Foundry. The Warlord NKE are very nice but a tad slighter and skinnier. Newline are good value too. Wargames Atlantic are supposed to have plastic NKE in the works. I have a lot of 28mm Bronze Age/Biblical armies but find a lot of these new resin ranges are available in 15mm as well which is a cheaper option.
Cheers
Cyrus

I’m so tempted to join this particular period. Nearly went all in when Museum Miniatures had their sale this January.
Yet, I’m very unsure whether going 15mm or 28mm. 15mm would allow really going for the mass look, but there are so many colorful heroes, like David, Samson, Ramses, Achill and the Greeks (if you allow thwhoöe Mediterranean to participate), Conan lol, Hector, Paris…

Fantastic period. Great mix of figures and lovely basing and painting. Studio Miniatures in Greece are bringing out their own resin Hebrews and Philistines in near future. So many options now for biblical gaming.

It’s one of my favorite rulesets! I use it in a simizway for battles in GW‘s Realms of Chaos. Never thought about the Bible, though. Anyone already statted Old Jove? :o ;)

15mm man! Think of the chariots! :D
Also, CP Models now have the Crom's Anvil range of scenery which will work wonders for the Bronze Age, and Blotz do a lovely set of Biblical Walls in 15mm. I resolved to resume my own 15mm project in this era, after considering selling it all. ;)
That said, Cyrus' 28mm efforts are wonderful and very inspiring! If starting from scratch I would be torn as well!
