Title: Patriots Rebellion - Canada 1837-38
Post by: Emir of Askaristan on 06 November 2022, 01:34:24 PM
This little known 19th century conflict captured my attention some time ago and I wanted to give it a go using Rebels and Patriots.

I plan on using Retreat from Kabul British from Empress and Studio miniatures and SYW/AWI/1812/Alamo figures for the Patriots and Americans.

I've managed to assemble most of the former from eBay purchases and got the latter done for me as an anniversary present from my lovely wife. Stuart Foley did the painting.

Nicely done. I suspect we have collected most of the same miniatures. From what I’ve read about  a third of the Patriotes were either unarmed or armed with crude weapons, agricultural instruments, home made pikes, so you might want to add some.

Thanks folks.

Carlos....I'm not the best at converting figures so won't be going for pike/agricultural implement armed patriots. I figure most of those made themselves scarce once the fighting started and certainly once bayonets were fixed. But if I can find some which are easily done I might be persuaded.

I am planning to do the battle of the windmill as a demo game and the American Patriot Hunters seem better equipped.

For what it's worth. I have used the Eureka Tyrolean rebels which come with agricultural implements and open hands and one or two Montrose Irish from the same manufacturer. Simple job of lengthening the coats with some green stuff.  Possibly not in their catalogue as yet but Eureka also do a range of French revolutionaries. Civilian types, open handed, whose head wear is easily adapted to woollen caps. The Empress Maori Wars sailors are also a useful source of figures and for completly unarmed or poorly armed 'extras' check out the North Star FOG Dickensian figures.
