Pepe the Giant from Dungeons & Lasers kickstarter campaign and a little friend oh his shoulder. ;)
I really enjoyed painting this model it was a nice change from painting the smaller stuff.
I'm going to use them for DnD and some fantasy wargames.

Thanks guys! I'm glad you like it. :-*

Hi all, I decided to rename this topic and use it as the place for all my general Fantasy stuff instead of making new topics every time(hope that's alright).
So here is another big guy I recently painted - Yahazzal The Hungry Troll. Its also from the Dungeons and Lasers kickstarter.

Great work, your vibrant paint style really compliments the sculpt.

He’s a big boy! Great job on the painting.

Thanks guys I'm glad you like 'em :)

Love the colors as they are really vibrant, great work!

Thank you! :-*

"Dwarf and Goblin" from SPELLCROW which in my opinion is a great mini for the Valentines. :)

Happy Valentine's Day everyone :-*

Nice work. Those are some fun models.
-
Thanks! Yeah I really like their minis.
-
Another mini from SPELLCROW - Raguk Little Finger
He got his nickname when I accidentally snapped part of his pointing finger while clearing the mold lines lol
With his commanding pose he will become a leader for my fantasy Orcs.

One more Orc and the last one for now.
This guy is a Rogue. I'm really happy with how the cape and vest turned out :)

My wife and I are going to miniatures painting festival this weekend. We always try to paint something new especially for this event. This time she painted Sewer Mermaid from Dungeons & Lasers and I painted Forgon from SPELLCROW.

Nice ones, I really like the Necromancer with the green bitz! (You might consider adding some extra shading to bring out the teeth of the skulls though.)
-
I really like that drummer. Very nice.
-
Thanks guys!
(You might consider adding some extra shading to bring out the teeth of the skulls though.)
Yeah, it doesn't look great. I did nuln oil wash and then highlight again. And then I had to touch up whit again after IO did eyes so that may have been the issue.

I added freehand pentagram to the page of his open book. Its a little off as my freehand skills are not great. But I like it anyway, it adds more character to the mini in my opinion.

I really like the townsfolk, nice pjs.
How do they scale up next to the likes of Frostgrave, Black Scorpion or Reaper?

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
Unfortunately I don't have the minis you mentioned but here is a comparison with Outhmark minis (North Star) hope that helps.
-
Thanks, very helpful.
I was expecting them to be big, but if anything it seems they're slighter, with more realistic proportions.
-
You're welcome. ;)
-
They seem to be part way between conventional 28mm figures and the really slim D&D figures. I wouldn’t have a problem using them in camps or in skirmish scenarios alongside most 28s.
-
I have both the Archon Studios townsfolk and a lot of Reaper civilians, plus most of my plastic is either WA or North Star (Frostgrave/Stargrave/Oathmark). The Archon stuff is certainly smaller and slighter in build, but not too much that you notice. The one place you might is with the town guard, as they are fairly small compared to a similar fighter figure from another manufacturers. However, given the real world differences in height, I think it looks fine
-
Cool, thanks for the insight.
Got few more Townsfolk done.

Yes, the lady with the falcon is eye catching! If you can handle painting yellow (and clearly you can), yellow and black make a powerful combination on a figure.

Oh, those look very nice. Lovely painting (and photography), but the figures themselves look pretty good. D&L's marketing for figure sets isn't great, is it? You can probably see these in a group shot emphasising the number of figures rather than their individual features.
-
Thank you!
Yeah, you are right the marketing for figure sets is not great. But they did post a lot of the poses and highlights during the KS campaign.

Hey everyone! Just finished painting my Tarrasque from Dungeons and Lasers kickstarter by Archon Studio. I wanted to try something different from the typical color schemes, so I went with purple armor and bluish-white skin, accented by a pink energy glow on the armor. I made the mistake of building the whole model before painting, instead of doing sub-assemblies—it made painting it a real challenge...

Wow! Very nicely painted. I really like the electric/lightning effects and the way you painted the irises of the eyes is amazing attention to detail
-
Thank you! I'm glad you like it.
Luckily the eyes were big enough to add some more details.
-
Lovely colour scheme. I got some flashback about some Pokemon at the lightning effects but cannot recall anymore which one it was. Also looks like there are your next painting projects inside the box, looking forward to see those ^^
-
I really like the light effect on that monster! (the rest is cool too)
-
Thanks guys!
Also looks like there are your next painting projects inside the box, looking forward to see those ^^
Yeah, there was some space left after I fit the big guy in, so I managed to make a few more slots for larger models.
-
That guy is amazing! Great work!
-
Thank you! :-*
-
That's some really judicious airbrush use in those energy lighting effects. The contrast of airbrushed energy glow against conventional hand-painting really amps the OSL effect up to 11!
-

Thank you so much for the kind words! 😊
This was my first attempt at an OSL-style effect, and while I can spot a few areas that could have turned out better, I'm very happy with the overall results.

I got the Army Painter Dungeons & Dragons Nolzur's Marvelous Pigments paint set for Christmas, and I couldn't be happier!
The set included an exclusive Owlbear miniature, which I really like.

I do the exact same thing when painting an animal. I pull up a Google Image Search page of that animal. I look through and find one a front and back image like and save it to my desktop. I pull the images up once I am painting it and am usually happy with how they turn out.
Your Owl Bear is spectacular!!
Mike Demana

Thanks! :-*
-
Wow! That Owlbear turned out very nicely indeed
-
that owlbear is lovely
-
Thank you!

Another :o for the Owl Bear - great stuff
I have had one primed for ages. I will use yours as a guide, the colours are perfect and very striking
-
Thanks! I'm glad I inspired you to paint yours :)
-
That Owlbear is really impressive, incredible paintjob :o
-
Thank you!
-
Excellent painting and a lovely selection of figs. Keep them coming.
-
Thank you :-*
-
The owlbear is pretty impressive. We clearly don't have the same patience o_o
-
Thank you! Yeah, the Owlbear took me a while to paint. I also spent a lot of time looking at pictures of owls before I actually started painting it.
I painted six undead models from the Dungeon and Lasers Kickstarter by Archon Studio. Half are in tarnished bronze armor with greenish-blue patina, while the others have rusty metal armor and weapons. I aimed for a cohesive, ancient, and decayed look.

Yeah, I might have slightly overdone it. :)
-
They look really good.
-
Thank you!
-
Very nice.
-
Thank you!
Recently, I painted two miniatures from Archon Studio's Dungeons and Lasers line: the Rat Catcher and Rat Folk. The Rat Catcher was painted with dark and cold colors to create a more sinister look, while the Rat Folk has a slightly brighter and less grim color scheme.

Painted one of the totem/pylon pieces from the Dungeons & Lasers Kickstarter stretch goals
It features carved magical symbols — I tried to make them glow with a simple OSL effect. Not fully satisfied with the result, but it was a good chance to experiment and learn. Might revisit it later.

That really is quite good - I do like the way you've done that glow effect and I may have to borrow that idea at some point. Nice Work.
-
Thanks man! I'm glad you like it :)
-
Looks mighty fine to me. Great job.
-
Thank you :-* that’s probably just my inner critic talking lol
-
That's a nice glow! I'd be very happy with that.
I get what you mean about your inner critic, I think we don't look at our own work in the same way as we look at other people's.
-
Thanks! You're totally right about that.
-
Very nicely executed runes!!
-
Thank you!
-
Cool, I like the glowing effect!

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

Pair of prisoners from Dungeons and Laser campaign.
I was a bit nervous about painting prison stripes... I wanted that fantasy jail look without accidentally referencing anything too serious from real history. Hopefully they read more 'grim fantasy' than anything else.
-
Great work! The stripes don’t have any serious associations for me. I’m not sure when prison uniforms were invented (19th C maybe?) but I don’t think that really matters for fantasy settings, they get the message across that these guys are on the shit list of the powers that be.
-
Thank you! I was going for a cartoony look with these prisoners, so that's why I chose the stripes.
-
Big arrows on lighter uniforms were the first to be used in victorian times in England, USA using horizontal stripes soon after. Sadly I have only ever seen vertical stripes (rather narrower though) on prison uniforms in one place, WW2 Germany.
But they certainly do look the part of prisoners.
-
I think they look "old" enough that most people would not make unpleasant 20th century associations. In fact, the stripes are very subtle. Great work!
Mike Demana

Thank you!

Just finished painting this classic D&D monster – the Beholder!

I think so too. My initial plan was to do everything in shades of gray, but I decided to go for a more polished look rather than something resembling ruins.

Pain trees from Dungeons & Lasers Encounters.
These are plastic trees with enough parts to assemble three of them.
The set also included separate bottom parts of the trees, sculpted with tree rings inside. I decided to use one of them on its own, as if it was the remains of an old, broken tree stump. Because of that, one of the trees ended up shorter, since I built the bottom part separately instead of attaching it.

A small update from the painting desk – this time I finished a Highlander Huts and a cart from Dungeons & Lasers.
The hut has a clear Viking vibe, so it will fit perfectly in games like Pillage, but it should also work great in other fantasy or RPG settings where a rugged northern atmosphere is needed.

Looking great! This terrain for anything in particular or just something fun to paint?

Big arrows on lighter uniforms were the first to be used in victorian times in England, USA using horizontal stripes soon after. Sadly I have only ever seen vertical stripes (rather narrower though) on prison uniforms in one place, WW2 Germany.
But they certainly do look the part of prisoners.
yes - wonderful painting in general of course, but a misjudgement here I'd say - def. frisson with a particular time and place. That was my gut reaction - and I don't look for these things, believe me.
Anyhow, the Beholder's awesome.
