Born during conflict known as the Arano Restoration in 3025, Flip's Irregular's are a small mercenary company operating in the Periphery. Their portfolio includes such services as asset retrieval, property protection, escort duty, pirate removal and Mechwarrior training.

Nice! 8)
Will they also have some sort of markings, like their company logo, or some big numbers? I find those really finish off good models and make them great :)
I love the background story; very Battletech indeed...

As much as I would like to, the mini's are to small for that and both are outside of my skillset.

...So, you've been playing HBS Battletech computer game too then, huh? ;) They look very nice, well done.

It's a good suggestion though, and you could do it easily enough with a couple of well-chosen transfers perhaps? The sort you get with historical tanks/planes are quite good for this, and have lots of suitably small numbers and symbols that you could use. :)
-
Nice green. Well done.

They look good :)

Fantastic!

Exactly that :)
My days of painting litanies on Space Marine shoulder pad rims are over, so I do use decals for a lot of applications that might otherwise be too fiddly. And Battletech unit markings are just such a thing. I should have clarified that a bit more I suppose...

Flip's Irregular's have managed to cobble together enough parts and equipment to field a third Lance alongside the Urbanmech. A BJ-3 Blackjack, a WHM-6R Warhammer and a FS9-M2 Firestarter.
The Firestarter is an odd one, as its an old metal miniature I found in a drawer, and upon research, its a Dark Age era mech that wasn't created until 3104 which makes it useless for anything set before. :'(
-

Prototype ;)
Great additions! 3 lances form an understrength company; their rrputation must be growing...
-
Lookin' good.
I can't help but laugh at the revolution that Battletech has had. I've been complaining (not loudly) for maybe 10-15 years that Battletech was absolute garbage because they had horribly sculpted/cast metal minis which cost an arm and a leg, or old ugly plastics. I couldn't think of an IP more suited to a simple line of nice plastic miniatures.
People used to call me out and complain because they loved their ugly Iron Wind metals, and that Battletech was "so good" it didn't need nice minis, etc.
Amusing how Catalyst finally figured out how to produce some solid plastic minis (using mainly MWO digital sculpting) and imagine that...they are running wild and have another massively successful Kickstarter. lol

Well being in the UK I've always found Battletech a difficult game/series/setting to get into. Starter sets were never readily available it seemed, Ral Partha has a vast selection of wonky metal mini's and the only exposure I had to it growing up was Mechwarrior 2 on PS1 and the cartoon.
It was thanks to Tex Talks Battletech and the 2018 Battletech video game that I gained more knowledge and intreast in the setting. Still finding it difficult to source newer minis in the UK tho. Always seem to be out of stock or that same lance packs.
-
Have you looked on Etsy?
While Catalyst uses the same designs - the folks behind Mechwarrior Online put all of their digital models up for free-use, so everyone with a 3D printer can print off quality models for cheap. There are numerous sellers on Etsy (at least in the United States) which will sell you a custom printed lance for like $16. Worth a look.
I started collecting Battletech again a year or two ago and was pretty happy with the handful of printed mechs I picked up (that was before I ditched it...again).
Only picture I have of the printed lance (I had others that weren't painted).

Definitely worth researching, you can find all of the models available.

Well, to be fair, the Firestarter model is based on the Wizkids version of the classic Firestarter. Firestarters have been around forever.
https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Firestarter_(BattleMech) (https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Firestarter_(BattleMech))
So think of it as a cobbled together version of a Firestarter with the Mercenary penchant for customizing their mechs.

I managed to find a local (ish) store that stocks some Battletech, unfortunately its repeats of the same few boxes, but still, mechs are mechs. I picked up the Wolf's Dragoon's Assault Star and painted them up as the Dragoon's Epsilon Regiment.
Left to right we have BJ-2 Blackjack, RFL-3N Rifleman, ARC-2W Archer, ANH-2A Annihilator and the Mad Cat / Timber Wolf Pride.
I'm looking at getting hold of some decals, stay tuned.
-
I can recommend Fighting Piranha Graphics (in the US):
https://www.fightingpirannhagraphics.com/
Their stuff is very nice and shows up well.
Definance Industries also does decals, but their colors aren't as strong (meaning they can disappear on bolder or darker colors, such as their 21st Centauri decals had to be painted over on my blue mechs, and their Marik decals are invisible on purple Marik mechs, although they worked great on white Steiner mechs and off-white Kurita stuff). They are in the UK.

Nice
-
Oooh, I like the ones with the sandy tones! I've never been much of a fan of the Battletech models, but that scheme looks really good. Nice work!
-

Dragoon's Epsilon Regiment have reinforced with a fire support lance made up of a STK-3F Stalker, ZEU-6S Zeus, TBT-5N Trebuchet and a LGB-0W Longbow.
These are the same shade as the previous mechs, but I didn't do any image jiggery pokery on the color levels, so look a little darker.
Also thanks for the comments and advice, I have a selection of decals in the post, should drop some point this week :)
-
That is a lot of missile support. Well done.
-
(https://i.postimg.cc/hj4czzLh/20230513-174501.png)
Had some "fun" with the decals. Only problem is the ones I picked for the green mechs are to big and unusable on anything other than the Awesome...
-
(https://i.postimg.cc/c4KW8tNT/Battletech7.jpg)
Epsilon's third lance is made up of Unit's 01, 02, 08 and 10, which are a NSR-9J Nightstar, CTF-1X Cataphract, AXM-1N Axman, and a BSW-X1 Bushwacker. These give the regiment some added Heavy oomph.
Bought this pack without doing any real research, the inclusion of the Bushwacker puts this lance firmly in the Clan Invasion period and beyond. But can say that of the Mad Cat.
-
Great job! But I think the Stalker cockpit is on the top not the front
-
Excellent!
This brings your Dragoons up to company level now? A serious force already 8)
-
Love the Dragoons

A Griffin and a Vindicator of the 2nd Canopian Cuirassier's, a unit that has a long history with the Magistracy of Canopus.
I got hold of a copy of the Beginner Box.
-
Good job on the transition form light to dark.

The 2nd Canopian Cuirassier's Lance is completed with a CN9-A Centurion and a RFL-3N Rifleman.
These two mechs come from the new Essentials box set which a friend in the US was nice enough to ship for me.
-
Very cool. I love using the annihilator in the MW5 game. Good to see it in mini form.
-
The purple blending is gorgeous!
-
(https://i.postimg.cc/90r1Zb3R/Battletech10.jpg)
I picked up yet another box of mechs. this time around I got a Clan set cheap off eBay, but I know next to nothing about the mechs themselves. From left to right, we have a Fire Falcon, a Hellion, a Kodiak, a Pack Hunter and a Howler. I tried to paint them as Jade Falcon's, hopefully I succeeded.
-
(https://i.postimg.cc/B6Vt76Gj/Battletech11.jpg)
The White Witches, one of the few mercenary units that had successes against the Wolf's Dragoon's. In formation we have a WSP-3W Wasp, AS7-S Atlas, PXH-3K Phoenix Hawk and a LCT-3M Locust.
Waco's Ranger's were once a fairly respectable unit, but after pursuing their one-sided vendetta against the Wolf's Dragoon's they would have several embarrassing defeats and diminished the unit's reputation earning them several nicknames such as "Wako Junkers," "Wacko Rangers," and "Waco Grangers." on the parade ground we have TR1 Wraith, WHM-6R Warhammer, ARC-5R Archer and a BJ-3 blackjack.

Very nice. One can never have too many merc’s to crush dirty clanners with. :D
-
Oh I really like the unit in white. Well done
-

My Wolf's Dragoon's have exceeded Company level, onwards to Battalion. Finally tracked down a Marauder 3R as well as a Stinger 3R, another Archer, this time the 2R variant and a Valkyrie QA model. This forms a nice Command Lance.
-
(https://i.postimg.cc/HWZyXBkD/Battletech14.jpg)
Clan Mechs from the Alpha Strike box set, painted up as Clan Wolf Beta Galaxy. From left to right we have a Dasher/Fire Moth, Masakari/Warhawk, Black Hawk/Nova Prime, Pouncer and the good old Mad Cat/Timber Wolf.
-
Well done
-
That paint scheme looks quite good!
-
Just caught up with this thread. A very nice collection of painted mech's.
-
Thank you for the kind words :)

Clan Wolf Elementals. These folks gave the Inner Sphere Mechwarriors nightmares when they first showed up.
-
(https://i.postimg.cc/NGJr52T0/Battletech16.jpg)
Another selection of mechs, this time from the Clan Invasion box set. From left to right, Grendel/Mongrel, Gladiator/Executioner, Mad Cat/Timber Wolf, Puma/Adder and Black Hawk/Nova.
-
The mechs continue to get their fresh coat of paint...and looking great!
You've got quite the collection going now. Are you playing Alpha Strike with all of these or just a few at a time with Classic Battletech?
-

I havent gotten any games in of either system. I dont think theres any gaming groups around near me and wouldnt really have the time to do any gaming either as Im a walking corpse after work.

You're a legend then for soldiering on with no game in sight.
I'm sure a game will come around eventually... and you're mechwarriors are gonna be strapped and loaded!
-
The elementals are nice. They look good in the simple scheme.
I play alpha strike with my son, and occasionally my gaming group. It's worth a look if you can find someone to play with.
-
The lances/stars look great! 8)
And is it me, or is your painting also improving with each group? :)
Your Clan Wolf scheme is exactly the reverse of the one I want to apply to one of my Inner Sphere lances (in 1/100); sand on the lower half and a sky grey/blue on the top half. As a sort of desert camouflage scheme. As far as passive visual camo is even effective when talking about 10m tall metal monsters... :D

Those look really good. I especially like the guys with the jetpacks.

Nice update. Looking good. Love the elementals.

The road to battalion level continues with a lance of Urbanmechs, a UM-R80, UM-R60L, UM-R60 and a UM-R93. The 93 is (I believe) and Ilclan era mech.
-
Hooray for the Urbies. Nice different loadouts there.
-
Holy streetfighters, you really went to town with these ones! :D
Even though the Locust is my absolute favourite light mech, the Urbie is a close second; great work! :)
Let's just hope that these cityfolk never get dragged out into the countryside though... ;)
-
Love the Urbies! I have the same unit on my painting desk right now.
-
(https://i.postimg.cc/VkXC3kyX/Battletech18.jpg)
Snord's Irregulars, an offshoot unit from the Wolf's Dragoon's, more interested in looting historical artifacts than completing missions. From left to right we have an SPT-N2 Spartan, HGN-732 Highlander (Rhonda Snords mech), GLT-3N Guillotine and the Frankenmech Hybrid Rifleman RFL-3N Sneede.
I wasn't going to even attempt to paint the suggested paint scheme for the Frankemech.
-
The Franken-Mech on the right is classic.
-
Another group of Lances for the Dragoon's Epsilon regiment ready to deploy.

A Mauler MAL-1R, Thunderbolt TDR-5S, Black Watch BKW-7R and a Crockett CRK-5003-0.

A Guillotine GLT-4L, Flashman FLS-7K, Lancelot LNC25-02 and a Crab CRB-27.

Finally we have a Mongoose MON-67 thats awaiting some lancemates.
-
a good unit.
-
(https://i.postimg.cc/gjjXhwk7/Battletech22.jpg)
I got around to finishing some more mechs to complete another lance, this time a Raven RVN-3L and a Commando COM-2D.
Joining the Mongoose and the Mad Cat to form a complete Lance.
-
They look great! That’s an interesting mix in the lance with three lightweights backed by a monster. Maybe the lights didn’t spotting for the Mad Cat’s LRMs and lure victims in close for a mugging…
-
(https://i.postimg.cc/Vs0qqm4d/Battletech24.jpg)
Another Wolf's Dragoon's lance painted up, this time around we have a ZEU-6S Zeus, an STG-5M Stinger, a MAD-CAT and a PXH-1 Phoenix Hawk.

Awesome! Where do you source the ground vehicles? I haven’t seen any at my usual sources.

My kickstarter pledge finally showed.
-
Lucky you! I’ll be looking for them soon, then.
-
Nice work. Aren't those Savannah Masters cute?! The little devils
-
My local-ish shop has them as pre-order, including the big Timberwolf, so I’ve put in a pre-order. : 8)
-
My brother and I did a joint pledge and he got it all just before Christmas. He's bringing it up to me in the New Year so I'll finally have it in my grubby paws! The question I'll have to then ask is 'was it worth it?' - the postage, the waiting and the hassle just to get something slightly ahead of some of the shops. We'll see.

Dont forget the mispacked slavage boxes and the missing "fre" boxes promised in July to cover the mispacked salvage boxes..
-
My brothers unpacked most of the boxes and, so far, all seems to be there. There was some confusion as to how many salvage boxes we were getting but that has been resolved in our favour now, so that seems ok as well. Despite the long delay and high postage we seem to have got off relatively unscathed from some of the problems associated with this particular kickstarter. Not sure whether I'll be doing another, though!

Lucky, I got two Galleons in the mech boxes, and am missing the free salvage box that was promised as an apology for them messing up the salvage boxes. CGL is also not answering any mails, which is good of them.

Some much needed aerospace assistance in the form of a SL-17 Shilone.
-
Well done.
What is the base color for the Dragoon units?
-
The Wolf's Dragoons colour scheme depends on the type of unit and the parent organisation. A/S fighters tend to canary yellow, fiery orange or red/black whilst mechs and vehicles follow the same primary colour schemes for each regiment/battalion:
Alpha Regt: rust red/black trim.
Beta Regt: emerald green.
Gamma Regt: midnight blue.
Delta Regt: dusty grey.
Epsilon Regt: tan.
Wolf Spider Battn: black with red trim.
Zeta Battn: black (added white striping and red trim late Jihad era).
Some mechwarriors may deviate from this scheme, especially commanders who want to be noticed by their own troops - generally they'll use a single bold colour (gold, yellow, green) that contrasts with the regt/battn colours.
Yeah, Wolf's Dragoons are complicated! Hope this helps.

A Visigoth Prime that the Dragoon's got as Isorla or battle salvage of some Clanners.
-
If you hang on until Feb-March sort of time then Force Manual: Mercenaries might be hitting shelves. I've now got the Davion and Kurita Force Manuals and they really do add a lot of good material, especially for Alpha Strike.
I was inspired (or deranged lol) to start working on an entire 10th Ghost Regiment battalion sized force after reading the Kurita book - beware!! lol

Next lot of tanks done and dusted..

Fantastic stuff! I’m stuck in on a commission, with my BT on the queue shelf.
-
looking great. I another thought a Goliath model would look good, but they did it.
-
Super, will you free-hand or use decals for the C-bill signs on the Bounty Hunter's ride?

I had a go at free hand, and failed miserably, so for now, no.

Yes, there are cards in the box, but I will not be opening it for a while (self restraint beyond anything anyone who knows me would expect).

It's a little bit of a shock if your opponent is expecting a normal Urbie. It upgrades the engine slightly (well it's a bit faster) and runs all-energy weaponry. It's in one of the Shrapnel magazines, has a card on MUL and is briefly mentioned in the Sarna Urbanmech entry. The Battletech mech sheet can be downloaded from the Shrapnel website for free.

Clan Wolf gains another Star, consisting of a Rifleman IIC, Phoenix Hawk IIC, Highlander IIC, a Grizzly and a Bane. I've now ran out of Clan mechs, and I think my Wolf's Dragoon's regiment has gotten to big, so going to start a new regiment with the 10 or so lances I have left.
