Hi all,
Here are the first minis for my Bolshevik BoB force. Ive been waiting to start this project for so long and im really happy to be getting to grips with it. Im still getting to grips with the camera so some of the colours are a bit off but im happy with them.
Thanks for looking and expect to see more soon

Hi RJ,
You have achieve some very nice colours on the officers an in particular, I'm interested in the colours for the greatcoat please. This is one genre I'm trying to get my head around when painting miniatures. Whilst I've a number of uniform books it's always the same as illustrators interpret their own thoughts on canvas.
Well done.

Hi Helen, Thanks alot for your comment.
The greatcoat was done using P3 thornwood green as a base and then adding GW fortress grey for the highlights. Im not going with total historical acuracy, more what i like :)
Thanks again

Very nice, like your shading, especially on the greatcoat.

That's very nice work!

Thanks RJ,
I checked my colour match and P3 looks very brown on the colour plate! Looking at your colour here it's more green.

I'd persume that the colour plate is way incorrect.
Thanks again,

Not sure why they have made it brown!?
Its a murky green colour and adding the light grey to highlight gives the worn look.

Like I just said over on Steve Dean's Forum - I really like these! :)
Excellent crisp paintjob, great faces, lovely bold colours. Looking forward to seeing lots more (in due course, obviously!)

Top Job Rob :-* Colours are excellent 8)

Excellent work! :-*
I particularly like the blending on the greatcoat and the nice clean treatment of the flesh.
My one quibble- I dunno about those marks on the sword, though...
-
I’m not too keen on the sword of the middle figure either… as for the rest, they are surely amongst the best painted figures I’ve seen on this (an others) site.

Thanks for all the comments and critism guys, always good to hear what people think 8)

magnificent brushwork sir!!!!
-
simply excellent
You possibly have more examples of this interesting "shading with different colours" impressionist technique?
I find it very interesting and effective

Very nice, especially the skin tones!
That grey greatcoat is nice - trenchcoats, greatcoats and such are fun to paint, lots of folds and surface area to play on.

Missed that thread, wonderful work man!!! I like the colours, especially the greatcoat. Will copy that shamelessly :P
