Title: What size were Franco- Prussian War flags?

I was having a bit of a clear out and came across a couple of boxes of Franco-Prussian War15mm figures.  They are all painted but need rebasing.  I've decided to keep them.  The flags look way too big.  It was the fashion way back. I need to replace them.

If anyone could tell me the size of Bavarian, French and Prussian infantry flags I'd appreciate it.  Likewise cavalry flags.

Certainly not the last word, but googling French infantry flags 1870 and then check images, likewise Prussian infantry flags 1870, they look about the same size as Napoleonic flags. I suspect the main difference from earlier standards was the legends on the flags.

I haven’t got all my research to hand but regarding Bavarian flags….

Bavarian Infantry flagpole, length 2.04 m (without lion topper)
Bavarian Infantry flag, per square side 1.17 m

Just noticed this…. Ah well, posted now  :D

The only thing I know about Prussians is that their Jaegers also didn’t carry flags.

Thanks Vincent.  They really are 15mm tall.  Very different from what we see today.  The flag staffs are plastic broom bristles. 


I'll likely do a new thread to show them all when the're done.

That makes mine a bit big.  Not intolerably so I hope.
