Did this as a demo for one of my classes - it started as a waterline Cthulhu figure, and evolved into something else. No wings, and orange instead of green. Aside from that I tried to stay true to the description, but interpret it as loosely as possible.

Since it was this board that got me into Lovecraft (and gave me the desire to make my own Cthulhu miniature) I thought I might post it here, seeing as Halloween is rapidly approaching.
I've got a few more pics (higher res) on my blog, if anyone wants to see more:

Wow, that looks disturbingly cool, but in a good way. Some mighty nice work there, thanks for sharing.
-
All the tentacles all curled up like that and the way you painted it makes the whole mass seem like hundreds of eyes and mouths. Very disturbing and an excellent sculpt!
-
That is a truly monsterous thing! Fantastic sculpt and paintjob...nice to see a new take on ol''thulhu.
:-* :P :-* :P :-* :P
-
wow, thats all I can say :-*
-
I like it very much!
-
That is soooo much more disgusting and disturbing than the standard version. Brilliant!!

I agree.

That's fantastic... especially the way you've sculpted the tentacles. Great painting too... !!!!
-
Thanks so much, guys! The painting was done by drybrushing cheap acrylic with a bristle brush on top of black spray paint.
-
Wow, that's a nice sculpt! Like it very much. What material are you working in when sculpting?
-
Absolutely love it!
Please MORE PICS and any WiP pics if you have them....Plus, put a mini in the scene, so we can get an idea of the scale!
Love it love it love it!!
-
Tremendous! Any chance of some more pics?
-
Very cool! I am sure I would have failed my SAN check if I had any points left!!! :-*

There are more pics (as well as some process/decision talk) here:

I tried to do a link-within-a-picture to higher res versions on this board, and couldn't figure out how to given the html restrictions, so I figured the link was the best way. There are seven pics in all, I think.
The mini beside it is 1:72/20mm, which I the scale I usually build to.
I have almost no process pics - sorry! But I do have this one. I used aluminum wire, twisted, to make the armature - two loops across each other making a big round x for the body, and the arms coming off to the side. The basic shape is aluminum foil, and most of the rest is Super Sculpey. Teeth are wood, eyes are wood and epoxy.

Another one to add to the ' the sculpter should have cast it up and sold a few' pile. :(
Shame, vey nice which is why it's a shame

That thing is epic in proportion! (especially once seen next to a "normal" mini)
Love it :o :-* o_o

It's not laziness, or stubborness, my lack of casting; it's that I have no idea how to do it. I hope to teach myself sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Erm never said it was my friend.... so no need to defend yourself ???
(You should be proud that people want what you sculpted!)
Worth speaking with a few people like say Geronimo for some hints and tips.
Good luck

Wow, beautiful! :-*

Fantastic! I love your take on him! Great work!
Be sure to let us know if you ever have him cast in resin, I'm sure you'd be able to sell at least a few of them.
