Title: LRDG minis & vehicles comparison
Post by: Thargor on February 26, 2023, 04:49:00 PM
Has anybody got any comparison pictures for Warlord LRDG vehicles and other manufacturers?

I have the 2 Warlord Chevy 30CWTs on my painting table and a Rubicon kit (still in the box).  I've been looking for more to make up a half or possibly full patrol for DAK Attack.  The ones from Offensive Miniatures look great and are good price wise too, but I wonder how they measure up size-wise?

I'd be grateful for any info on these or any others out there.

Offensive miniatures are a bit smaller. I did get their Winter troops and they are less bulky. I would need to dig them out to provide a picture however. I can also show them next to Empress and Warlord figures if you want.

No LRDG though, but maybe it helps to get an idea of their scale.

Hey there,

okay after a brief look I managed to find them. And you can see how bad memory works. They actually look okay next to each other. But some of their weapons are a tad smaller in comparison to the offerings of Warlord and Empress.  lol

Thanks for that Freaky Fenton.  They're not too far off.

Anybody have pictures of the vehicles?

Oh mind you, it is Empress, Offensive, Foundry, Warlord and Offensive. Also no idea how the pics got turned upside down.  ::)

For some reason, when I post a picture it winds up flipped half the time, and right way up the other half.

So Offensive is the little dude?  Ah, that's not so great then.

Hello.
I've painted some minis for SAS / LRDG and you can see them on this pictures.

I have both Rubicon and Company B.  The Company B are slightly smaller than the Rubicons.  The difference was enough that I decided to turn the Company B truck into a wreck.  It's not a horrible model but it simply isn't in the same class as the Rubicon model.

Thanks Tibson.  The Rubicon trucks do seem to be bigger than most on the market.  I've loaded mine with bits from the 2 Rubicon Stowage sets and some spares from infantry sprues.

I've had a look through the various LRDG threads here, but haven't found much info on vehicle crew figures so resurrecting this thread as it seems the best place to ask...

Having looked at all of the LRDG vehicle offerings out there, the Rubicon plastics seem like the best choice for me.  If for no other reason than the HLBS stowage sets being designed for them!  I'm not sold on using the Rubicon crew figures, though.  My previous experience with their tank commander figs is that they look tiny next to my Warlord figures.  Since I'm using Artizan for the LRDG, which seem even larger than Warlord, I'm afraid the Rubicon drivers will look even smaller in comparison.

So, that said, does anyone sell separate LRDG vehicle crew figures?  My google-fu has only turned up one three-figure set from Brigade.  Are there others?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for these.  I hadn't considered 3d print files.  That may be the way to go...

Did you Chevrolet WB 30cwt come with vehicle decals?

Thank you.
