Title: Sci-fi figures at random
Post by: Dubbya on 04 March 2023, 06:58:59 AM
Hi all, I'm painting some of my collection at (mostly) random. I say that, because I change plans so often! Hope you like...

The two on the flanks are from Space Crusade (aka SpaceQuest), right?
Painted they fit in quite well with modern GW stuff. I’m surprised how good. Nice!

Very nice! I really like those old Space Crusade Orks too. :)

Can I make a small suggestion? Using the same teal you used for the Orks' lips, I'd paint a little bit of that on the tongues of the moon icons on the SC Ork back icons too.

They are! I have a mix of all "eras" of ork in the army!

Ooh, yes I might. These are speedpaint throwaway models so I've cut many corners - I reckon I'll paint the tongues now.

Epic models painted all as one army, used as generic sci fi. Bases are left really basic, I'm not bothering to fill in since I just wanted some stuff finished!

Great work on those orks!

Lovely efforts here! I also rather like that mush mash if epic units in a unifying scheme.

Very nice - I actually like your grenade better than the original axe!  :)

The ork is a brilliant, yet small conversion. I love it! It’s indeed better than the original!

Thanks again! Grenade/stikkbomb was a test, ones I made later are a little better.

Anyway, more recent!

My first prmaris marine. I actually like them, don't even hate the "lore", but they make most models opposing them look ridiculous. I do live the assault marine versions though, so might get some.

Miniature painting is all about nostalgia for me anyway, so I don't mind smaller, exaggerated proportions models anyway.

Nice work on that Primaris Marine.
And, yeah: you either go full Primaris (a good option if you do just little skirmishes like Inq28) or even tanks and terminators look lile toys next to them. lol

More orks! No real clan, but I kind of see them as freebooters

Nice touch with the 'liberated' guard missile launcher. The little plate on the top completes it.

Today it's two more badmoons. Doesn't sound special, but I have big troubles ever getting squads/armies finished before I'm distracted by something else.

I finally finished a burna conversion from years ago! More scratch built stikkbombs haha.

Scratchbuild? They look really good! Your Orks are looking great, well done. Great yellow on those Bad Moons.

Thanks! Yeah, various sized styrene tubes and greenstuff. The yellow took me years to find a scheme I'm happy with, but I haven't tried Contrast yet!
