Title: Kikilosor the ankylosaurus
Post by: Patrice on 05 March 2023, 07:49:11 PM
This is Kikilosor the ankylosaurus not too ankylosed; it appeared recently in a game AAR.

Most people in a med-fan world, not knowing much paleontology, probably just call it a variety of dragon.

A toy of good quality (Schleich).

The tower is made from wood, with some usual miniature shields.

Its red Goblins crew have raised it since birth.

The driver is in complete chainmail.

The tail gunner ...er, sorry, I mean the javelin thrower sitting on the tail, tries to protect the rear.

The ankylosaurus can be very useful against wooden palisades.

Really nice paint job on Kikilosor and the scratch build howdah is very well done. I like the fact the goblins have brought a barrel of grog with them too.

Great stuff! There's something very appealing about sticking a howdah on a toy or model kit. Few years back I made a howdah for a Papo tortoise, shoved snotings and a goblin wizard on it.

That looks great, there's just something about scratch built stuff that appeals to me much more than ultra-detailed 3D prints.

Thanks.  :)

At first I had planned to use a triceratops but I couldn't find a convenient one when I wanted it. And I understood that the ankylosaur has a natural ability for sieges.

The toy already had nice colours, I tried to improve it a bit in some places and with a wash, etc.

The barrel at the back was inspired by some WW2 tanks.  lol

Next improvements could be a bit in the beast's mouth controlled by metal chain reins from the howdah in case the driver is killed by arrows (it seems to be his fate). And perhaps a removable mantlet on the top when they need to come near an enemy fort.
