These insect-like nightmares will work in any scale, truly creepy bugs from the fertile workshops of Wargames Atlantic. Beautifully cast in gray plastic the crisp sculpting would reward even a simple quick-paint effort. You can find a full photo survey of the sprues here: https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2023/03/sci-fi-bugs-of-worst-sort-harvesters.html (https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2023/03/sci-fi-bugs-of-worst-sort-harvesters.html)

Interesting, they kind of look like Kruthic from D&D...
-
I'm putting mine together at the moment. It's a bit of a challenge getting all the legs positioned so that they're stable and not lopsided. I'm also wondering how well they're going to stay on their stands over time.
-
Interesting - does anyone have some photos of assembled ones against different scale figure?
The idea of using them with Epic ranges is interesting, and not one I’d thought of before.
-
fred,
The back of the box shows then as slightly taller than the 28mm OOH-RAH space marines from Wargames Atlantic, probably 30mm+ tall. With careful positioning (and maybe some bracing) you could build them 32-35mm tall.

I've managed to squeeze it onto a 40mm base but a 50mm base would have been better.

Looks like one of the aliens from x-Com that can turn civlians into 'zombies' - can see a use for a box or two of these.
-
Thought I'd share a pic of my built Harvesters. The bases are 50mm as 40mm proved impractical for posing.

I am rather disappointed with them so far.
The absence of ball and socket joints makes them difficult to assemble, the absence of instructions makes matching the legs up annoying. The legs are labelled Ln and Rn, but they need to swapped round for the back legs.
I am going to have to milliput/greenstuff the joints to reinforce and disguise them.
They also need large bases. For reasons too long to describe, I am using lipped style bases and the 50mm ones are barely big enough to take the two assembled so far.
My plan is to drill holes to take the ends of the claws (they are sharp so the deck plates get damaged).

Here are some comparison photographs.

The harvesters occupy a lot of space and need large bases, limiting their use in enclosed spaces.

Thanks for sharing the pics Ultravanillasmurf.
I wonder if they'd work better with smaller legs? They'd be a bit closer to the ground and wouldn't take up quite so much space if you wanted a more dynamic pose.

Thanks for those comparisson pics, very useful.

They are the medium and small legs, there are sets of larger legs.
-
Oh so you get options in the kit, that's cool.
@Ultravanillasmurf - What parts did you use for the Stargrave zombie? He looks cool.
-
They won't stand up without bases? Looks like they might. It is a shame they are proving hard to assemble, as the look quite decent in the pictures on this thread.
They should certainly be good candidates for contrast paints/quick paints etc.

At least they're polystyrene this time 'round.
They bear an uncanny resemblance to the Defiance Games Bugs, which came in Restic. Try superglueing six thin limbs with needlelike attachment points while still maintaining model stability ::)
And then glue the (inevitably wonky) result onto an equally restic (read: warped) base. Such fun.
I had a full set of 24 (only after a waiting time of more than six months), but only ever was brave/patient enough to attempt assembly of 1.
So; these might be a pain in the behind to put together, but I bet they're still easier than their restic predecessors...
Here you have some (not mine):
