Wow, 1st attempt? That's pretty good I'd say.

Great job!

Should be proud! That looks tops. :D
-
Nice one! Looks gribbly. ;)

That's a pretty good first sculpt.
A couple of things to try with the next one. And this is just, I hope, helpful advice as I am not trying to cut down the work you have done.
1) Work on smoothing out the putty. Your fingerprints show up on the antennae.
2) You might want to do some deeper cuts on details. The tail looks a bit smooth and the sections not very distinct.
3) Sharpen the edges on some of the details. Especially on the legs, the detail looks too rounded on the edges.

thanks for the comments!
operator5- i definitely do appreciate helpful advice! The antennas i was hoping the fingerprints would add a bit of texture into them, but it didnt work the way i had planned.
You are so right on the tail! Far too smooth.
All a learning experience! :)
Now i am trying to sculpt some miscellaneous objects for rpg like grain sacks, barrells, pots+pans, furniture and other stuff like that.
Here is what a rust monster looks like, in case you are not familiar with it...

While I agree that the detail could be a bit sharper here and there, its still better than many of the "pro" sculpts on the d&d prepaints, so for first sculpt, amazing work!

That looks great for a first sculpt!
Keep practising, but I think you should be happy with your result here, you did a very nice job on this one - it's immediately recognizeable as what it's supposed to be, so right there you're ahead of the curve. :)

That really looks cool. Very nice first attempt!

Excellent work on your first sculpt! A hella lot better than I can ever do. Keep up the work!

Nice.

Very nice, keep at it!

Wow thanks for all the comments + compliments guys! I don't think i got this many comments combined on all the D+D sites i posted on.
I have a bunch of miscellaneous objects sculpted (grain sacks, barrells, pots+pans), and will post some pics soon. I ran out of brownstuff so now i must wait for some greenstuff to arrive before i can do any more sculpting. I also bought a sculpting tool kit and cannot wait until it all arrives so i can keep trying and hopefully improving!!
