I’m building up my Hunnic/Goth and Frankish armies, maybe into a complete alliance!
I’ve got loads of Huns and Gothic cavalry.
But with Victrix releasing the new armoured late Roman set,
I’m wondering are these a good set to make my Frankish armoured warband?
What about Wargames Atlantic? And even maybe Gripping Beast offerings?
It’s Frankish guys I want to make.
Thanks

Also,
Who makes a nice dismounted Hunnic archer?
Fireforge Mongol infantry perhaps? With different heads?

I used the gripping beast plastics for my Huns with a few foundry and old glory mixed in.
As for Huns all foundry no plastics

I think the Victrix armoured Late Romans would make excellent Franks as many Frankish warriors would have been equipped in Roman gear anyway! The barbarian heads in the set have spangenhelms judging by the photos I’ve seen, which are perfect! Buy (or blag spare bits from) a spruce or two of Gripping Beast Saxon Thegns and use the small hand axes therein and you’d even have some Franciscas for them (unless the Victrix sprues have any - I’ve not seen a pic of the sprues yet.)

My reading of the period is that the Franks (and Goths, for that matter) would not differ significantly in terms of military equipment from the Romans in the mid-5th century. There might be some differences in terms of hairstyles or textile/shield decoration, but I think the new Victrix late Roman sets are the best way to go for Franks. Wargame Atlantic does have a set of Franks in the pipeline, but from what they’ve shown so far it leans more into the stereotypical barbarian look, with fur vests and that sort of thing.

Cool,
My thoughts were Victrix.
I’m also thinking of a wagon tabor for my Huns.
Which will need some archers on foot to crew it.
But I suppose I could use my Gothic archers at a pinch?
It is going to be grand alliance army anyhow!

Fireforge heads and bow arms may do the job, I think I have some in plastics pile somewhere, I know I have bow cases

The WA Franks look great but seem like they're a fair way down their ladder of development priorities.

Yup, those would be perfect!
