Back in 2019 I built a bunch of displays for the Maze of Malicore and we only played the scenario once. https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=116046.0 (https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=116046.0)
Since then they have been sitting in the box so I decided to build a museum to stick them in. I wanted it to be generic enough to use for both Pulp Alley and Frostgrave. I did a generic front that I can hang a sign on depending on the scenario. It can now either be the Museum of Natural History or it can be Mathesar's Emporium of Wonders. Some photos here and more on my blog if you are interested.

Wonderful, especially the collection of oddities in cases.
-
Blimey! It’s things like that that make me visit this forum!
:o :o :o

Delightful bit of work. And not one but two spiral staircases - I think that might be a bit mad. Fun madness. How did you do that or were they 3D prints or some other purchase?
-
Nice work and I always enjoy the muted pallette that you use!
-
What a great build. Smart thinking to have optional signs.
-
Amazing - and especially the exhibits!
-
Thanks for the compliments all.

That was a particular bit of stupid on my part as I scratch built them. Central post is a Plastruct tube, the stairs are mount board and the side is stencil paper. Took about four tries to get the design right. There are still gaps on the outside edge of some of the stairs and no one could ever actually walk up it as the spiral is too tight but I am happy with the results.

Great stuff :)

This museum in a museum should be displayed in a museum! Incredibly good work!
-
Loving it, especially the display cases! 👏🏻
-
Superb, in concept and execution - this is one of the most interesting things on LAF ever! I love it :-*
Are the walls Renedra fortification walls?
-
Night at the museum,fantastic work.
-
Lovely work.
Fond memories of a Museum in a Wargame. Club I was in (years ago) did a, 'Night
at the Museum' silly end of year game. Players being chased around by the 'exhibits'.
Great fun!
-
That is outstanding.
I'd forgotten about your exhibits thread so have now bookmarked it to shamelessly copy your work; will make good use of the spare dinosaur skeletons I have as well as the small horde of bits that 'might come in handy' for my Castle and Dungeon project.
-
Absolutely superb!
-
Thank you for the kind words all.

No, they are scribed and textured foamex. I work for a local government authority and we had to split from another authority that we were partnered with. Because of the split all of our foamex signs for fly tipping and dog fouling were no longer valid and they were going to throw them away. My manager was happy for them to be recycled. :)

What a fantastic idea and amazing execution! I love this!
-
A spectacular piece of work and a bit of recycling too! Hats off to you, sir, hats off to you!
I keep going back to the pictures and spotting something else I missed before.
-
Fantastic work!
-
:) :) :) love it
-
Very impressive!

Snitchy,
I must respectfully disagree with you about your spiral staircases being too steep to walk on. While there is the obvious model versus reality difference, I've been on spiral staircases just like that - one in a cave and others on ships - and steep but not too steep to use.
Very cool modeling.

Well done, they look great, and reuse is good too 8)

Looks good, and a cool way to re-use some of the odd bits we tend to accumulate!

An entire building, just to have somewhere to put a bunch of scatter terrain! :o
Hats off to you, sir; that is some awesome work. It really has the look of an old, dusty museum.
Have you finished the signage(s) yet? I'm curious to see how the building looks with one of them over the door (I am assuming they go over the door ;) ).
-
Thanks again for all the kind words.

The building was pretty easy as it is basically a box and the cabinets have been sat on the shelf since we played the scenario so I will be happy to get some use out of them.

The signs will come later as I now am trying to bang through to finish my fantasy bakery. My wife is volunteering at an event all weekend so I have some time to get that done. I am of two minds of what to do with the signs. I will either magnetize them or take the easy option. That will be to glue signs to opposite ends. As both doors are identical it will just be a matter of turning the building around to change its use.

Lovely!

This is outstanding: love your exhibits.
