Title: Aircraft Decals - 1/300 only
Post by: Baron von Wreckedoften on April 05, 2023, 11:03:09 AM
Does anyone know of anybody in the UK who sells/makes sheets of aircraft decals (nothing fancy, just straight British and German) that are ONLY for 1/300 scale aircraft?  All the sheets I've managed to find via eBay and what have you are either mixed 1/144 and 1/300, or 1/300 and 1/600.  I just want 1/300.

All (polite) suggestions gratefully received.....

Heroics and Ros stock sheets of 1/300 decals. Some on a sheet are different sizes but then I guess they are for different sized aircraft.  They certainly say they are for 1/300.

Please excuse the piggy back ride but I'm looking for 1/200

Stupid scale I chose to 3D print but they fit the hex nicely

Any ideas?

PS.  I have bought some but they were poor resolution and printed on what seemed 100 gsm paper so wouldn't take the contours on a 1/24 scale fuselage let alone 1/200 ... so quality is important.

Unfortunately, it isn't as they are a mix of 1/144 and 1/300 (others are 1/200 through to 1/600 all on the same sheet).  I Have spoken to Leon and he was very apologetic about them!

I have actually found some exclusive 1/300 sheets in the Skytrex "Clearance" bin - British roundels and German cross (Eiseme/Maltese and Balkan, according to the period of the war).

Not sure what shipping to the UK would be like, as they're an American outfit, but Misc Minis do a huge variety of aircraft markings for 1/300 (and a lot of other scales) and they're good quality, nice clean prints and easy to use.

https://miscmini.com/ (https://miscmini.com/)

Misc will also do custom print runs quite inexpensively, especially if it's just rearranging art they already have into a new decal sheet. I'm sure there's UK outfits that will do the same, they just happen to be the ones I tripped over when I had some custom decal requests a couple years ago now.

Thanks all.

One of the "bespoke" items I am looking for is a set of wrap-around decals to cover an Albatros V/Va fuselage in the Bavarian flag (that's the blue/white lozenge one carried by Napoleonic Bavarian infantry - see the top aircraft in the link below).  I am aware that someone does these in 1/72, and - naive fool that I was!!! - I simply assumed that converting them down to, say, 1/144 was just a matter of halving the size, then halving them again for 1/285 (1/300).  But noooo.....

Most of the people I've asked if they would be interested in making this decal have said: "Are you competely off your head?"  Not all of them quite that politely.....

You might try thinking of making your own. I've never done it but you can buy decal paper and print anything on it.

Look at the Wings of Glory Aerodrome forum and you will find some information about doing this.

Alternativly as Wirelizard said try Miscmini although he recently posted on the Aerodrome that he was ceaseing business for a while. Not sure how long and I'm not sure what scales he does. The ones I bought from him were excellent and postage was very reasonable but it's probably 3 years ago.
Good luck
