Modern FFL. Not my thing, so I don't have any thing technical to say about them. However, they are the first moderns Eureka have done with chunkier barrel ends less prone to bending off :) The rocket launcher guy comes in a top and bottom half, the rest are OPC's. Eye height 27mm

Nice shiny ones!
With their berets and rolled-up sleeves they won't make for good frontline soldiers but they're right on for NUIT forces (the french department of dr. WHO’s UNIT). So at least the good doctor can enjoy the mediterranean sun a bit.

I only have the Copplestone Future Wars guys from or list. They stand about 1.5mm taller at the eye and are noticeably heftier. If you are slightly pedantic about these things, they probably aren't suitable for you.

Depends how far you want to go back, if you mean Kolwezi in the late 1970's then unfortunately not as the weaponry changed in about 1980 with the introduction of the FAMAS, also the AAT4 and Minimi were not in use then. Also I think body armour was not widely worn until after Gulf War 1.
I think with this appearance they are probably restricted to intervention in Brazzaville (Congo), peacekeeping in Bosnia/Kosovo (later period) and current Afghanistan.
Now if they can be persuaded to do some unarmoured riflemen and sniper, an AA52 LMG gunner and possibly a chap with an LRAC then that would be OK for earlier African interventions and Lebanon in the early 1980s.

Yes - to me they look more like how the FFL would appear in a current "African" deployment rather than Afghanistan. I have not been able to find a huge number of pictures of the FFL in Afghanistan but these seem to show mostly the helmet being worn and combat jacket (rather than shirt sleeves) and armour with an "upright" collar.
Having said that - nice figures and I shall be getting some, perhaps to paint up as something different like Marine parachute infantry with a red beret rather than green.

As I plan to paint some of these I picked up a copy of a Concord booklet Special Ops. Vol 42 has an article on the Legion battlegroup in Afghanistan. It's an extensive photo essay and it's pretty clear that the Eureka figures have used this as their source. All the legionnaires are wearing berets and have sleeves rolled. They are depicted like this on patrol and manning OPs. The standing figure with the Minimi SAW in the bottom figure seems to be directly modelled on one of the legionairres in the book, right down to the shades. The figures look pretty accurate on the basis of the Concord title. BNo doubt the range will expand if given some support. Personally I'm very happy with mine.

Thanks , thats what I was worrying about as I have the WW2 Pulp figures from Eureka which look a bit on the puny side.

Thanks for that - I have ordered the book. Certainly in the past the Eureka figures have been very accurate so I am not surprised to see that these are based on actual photos - I just could not find them!
I suppose I am still surprised at how little equipment they are carrying - not even a water bottle!
Certainly would like to see the range expand particularly a few suitable for African interventions in the mid 1990's - some with sleeves rolled down, more kit attached to and stuffed into pouches on the body armour and the high collars on the armour, wearing helmets and one/two armed with LRAC.

The body armour doubles as load bearing equipment and everything apparently gets stowed there. I was surprised too but it seems quite capacious. There are some more pouches on the front sides that are difficult to make out on the figures due to pose and arm position. Kosta is pretty meticulous about his research.
