Title: Terrain for Dirschau / Tczew 1627
Post by: Friends of General Haig on 16 April 2023, 09:30:08 AM
Latest blog describes the terrain for the demo game of the Battle of Dirschau / Tczew 1627, #Salute50 next Saturday.  Lots of pictures, and a walk-through of the whole design process. Hope you’ll come and see the result at GG06 in Excel next Saturday.

Andy; I thought your set-up was absolutely tremendous - both the terrain and your marvellous collection. I also thought it was a really nice touch having you as umpire, rather than one of the commanders, so that you were available to speak to visitors. It was a pleasure to meet you and I very much enjoyed our conversations.

Hi Paul, thank you so much!  It was great to meet you in person yesterday, and put a face to the name  :).  I really enjoyed talking to you about the battle and 17th century models in general.  I love putting the games on, and I love to see them played through, but I’m not too worried if I don’t actually play the game  ;D .  Luckily there are plenty of the guys at FoGH who are happy to play the games.

It is sort of a relief to not have a hobby deadline today, for the first time in what seems ages.  Also a bit uncomfortable, maybe  lol . Nothing on the painting desk  ??? .

The setup looks spectacular. Can’t wait to see more pictures from Salute. What is fascinating is that some of the bigger shots look like 15mm massed armies at first glance - truly gigantic in 28mm!

Thanks, Nick  :) .  Several people asked how many figures were on the table and I had to admit not having worked it out  ;D .  Subsequent work o. The abacus suggests it was just north of 800 figures so perhaps not earth shattering, but more than a regular game. I was pleased to see it all together on the table - a good milestone.  :D
