We recently used Dragon Rampant to get our old LotR figures on the table:

Hope you have fun and this may spark some old memories. Comment if you like!

It is very cool seeing your collection of classic figures in action! I don’t think I ever saw most of those sculpts ( maybe makes sense, as my entry into wargaming was about a decade later than those figs).

I used to have quite the army of those old elves. Like the Citadel Guard those monopose Sea Elves looked awesome ranked up. The spears were so easily broken though, so I'm very impressed you have so many intact.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I enjoyed the blog post very much. It made me nostalgic for figures that are older than I am! Did you use this rule for working out Glory Points at the end?
HONOURING YOUR ELDERS
Players gain an additional 2 Glory at the end of a game if their Warband comprises entirely of fantasy models manufactured pre-1984. If this doesn't give you a reason to hunt down old Minifigs and Asgard models, I don't know what will!

Hahaha, I did not see that!
The only models manufactured after 1976 were the spiders; all the rest have the stamp on the bottom.
Thanks for the positive comments; these old figures are hard to beat!

Nice! I ended up with a cache of those elves (Ral Partha Wizards, Warriors and Warlocks range) from a hobby shop sale back around 1990. The elves (and some of the orcs) are currently available again from Ral Partha Legacy, in case you need some reinforcements. ;)

Man those old sculpts do not hold up to todays standards lol

These model oldies have some real charm. :-* It’s good to see them in action.
A pity that they’re not in production anymore as I am not severely tempted to buy a few ;)

Clearly sculpting got better faster, but if your nostalgia needs a fix:

Love this so much! Great to see the old 25's on the table!
That elven commander is Ral Partha, and available again from Ral Partha Legacy as the High Elf Swordsman:

Hope to see more with these armies!

Thanks, gents! I’m tempted to order a few. The price, however, is quite steep (I will need to add postage and customs and handling charge).
