Title: One of THEM!
Post by: Operator5 on 31 October 2009, 07:09:55 AM
Just picked this up today for about $8. A couple of more and I can run THEM! no problem. That's an Atomic Cafe Marvin Moose for scale.

THEM! were not that ginormous by any means, but, this might be one of the MEGA-THEM! from a thermonuclear test site instead of a pithy little old nuclear bomb test!

WHERE  did you find that ginormous, mega ant at??????

Say, that torso-leg joint looks suspiciously mobile to me! Don´t tell me the beastie´s motorized?!?  :o

You DO realize, though, that you now need at least one of Company B´s Chaffees and 2.5-ton trucks to have proper opposition! ;)

And, even though it´s a different movie, a flight of F-80 "Shooting Star" jets armed with thermite bombs! Just for good measure! lol

I would guess even the mandibles are motorized  :D

AND   at least one jeep, a PIPER cub, a police car!

among the troops you must have at least one bazooka, and one flamethrower equipped soldier,  too!

a sad looking mom,  a hard bitten reporter,  an ancient boffin, his good looking daughter who doubles as a younger boffin, one USAF pilot,  one FBI man, at least one policeman, at least one little girl and two little boys!

I beg to differ on the size. This guy is a little big, but

And yes, he is motorized. He is designed as a remote controlled ant from the Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull movie.

My dad's 65, and he'll still tell you to this day about how he saw "THEM" as a kid, and how it scared the daylights out of him...

For some obscure reason, gardening shops often sell ants on this scale. They can be screwed to a wall. I have no idea why.

They are incredibly cheap.

Watch this space and I'll show you my ant collection.

but yours doesn't look as hairy as hers....

That doesn't sound right but you know what I mean

I think that is the biggest of THEM! featured in the movie, the other  are BIG compared to the soldiers fighting them, but, that ANT is GINORMOUS.

you are right; hers  has more hair than his . . . . and yes that does sound bad . . .

DAWGIE, who fell deeply in love with DR BEAUTIFUL way back in the 50s when he first saw THEM!, almost as deeply in love as he was with JULIE ADAMS, the babe in THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, and the red head from WAR OF THE WORLDS. . .

Well, I suppose it's slightly better than the giant butterflies we get on houses round here  :?

I'd like to see your ant collection - there's something oddly loveable about giant ants, spiders and scorpions.
