Title: Germans in the AWI
Post by: kingsmt on April 26, 2023, 08:07:06 AM
Some of my German AWI Units.
All of these need flags, which I do have.
But some of the bases need "winterizing" for the Trenton Campaign.
One I do that, I can attach the flags.
It's a lot easier to add the ice and snow without flags in the way!

From top to bottom:

1) Erbprinz Fusiliers
2) Erbprimz Musketeers
3) Von Bose Grenadiers
4) Von Bose Musketeers
5) Von Bose Musketeers 2
6) Von Donop Grenadiers
7) Knyphausen Grenadiers
8) Knyphausen Grenadiers 2

Great Job! Look forward to seeing the finished results. What is your winterization recipe if you don't mind sharing?

Nice work.

Have a German brigade on tap for painting in May - along with my one Spanish brigade.  A lot to tackle so we'll see how it goes.

If the Germans shown here were mine I'd leave them as is but the owner likes his winter scenes and does a good job on them.  Wondering at the units, though.  No great matter, would make a great diorama with appropriate buildings and loads of Americans - and a couple of artillery pieces.

15'sAway,  You should know by now, that I would have both Winter and Summer/Fall versions of the same regiments.
Winter for Trenton, Summer/Fall for Saratoga and others.

Stryder I use combinations of Woodlands Scenics Soft Flake Snow, WS Realistic Water and super glue to make Ice, Slush and plain old Snow. Mixing the Soft Flake into Super Glue or Realistic Water gives you various results as far as making ice or slush. Play around with mixtures until you get what you want.

Here's a few examples. The last photo of the Philly Light Horse show that you can also make mud and frozen ground using these products.
