Mancha’s Twenty-Questions
Okay, I’ve found this idea attractive from the get-go, but I didn’t want to start something and never finish it (an all too common habit). I also shared the common problem of not really knowing what I wanted to do. I finally decided my first idea was impossible without some cannibalizing of expensive model kits. And so I’ve turned to this idea:

What is it? you ask. Exactly! I thought it would be fun for the learned LAF to guess. I intend to post a picture every day or two. These pictures might show very minimal progress. I will answer three yes or no questions every day, in whatever order they are presented. You can ask any questions you want, as long as they can be answered with a simple yes or no. (Of course I cannot guarantee that I'll know the answer, but I'll do my best.) Sooner or later people will have to post questions as to the actual identity of the build, such as; “Is it a 1914 bicycle dirigible?” The answer to which (and this is a freebie) is “No”.
I hope to hear from some interested members with questions.

I'll start the ball rolling then.
Is it a building?
-
Is it smaller than a breadbox? What scale loaf?
-
Is it a building?
No
-
Is it smaller than a breadbox?
Yes (It's smaller than MY breadbox.)
-
It looks like a superstructure (the wall) of a ship laid on its side with the coaming? for a door and latch back strip. Maybe a sub?

If your question is, "Is it a sub?", the answer is "No".
That's three questions for the day. I'll post another pic tomorrow and answer three more.
-
Your sick! sick! I tell you :P
Ok it what era is it supposed to be set in?
-
Your sick! sick! I tell you :P
I agree you are sick :D
Is the figure important to the build ???
-
Is the figure important to the build ???
Good yes or no question. The answer is No.
-
Here's a new picture, and I'll be happy to entertain some more Yes or No questions:

I've been afraid of this question. :(
The answer is Yes.

The answer is Yes.
Too soon? ;) lol

Good game. Calimero spoiled it ;) lol
But presumably we now need to guess the exact make and model? :)

I agree. :)
But presumably we now need to guess the exact make and model? :)
Well, it needs a name.

I would say either a beaverette or a morris CS9 by the shape
Keith :?

I agree. :)
Sorry :( I should have stay with my first question which was, will it be painted in pink with green dots? ::)
-
I would say either a beaverette or a morris CS9 by the shape
No fair asking two yes or no questions at the same time. Choose one and I will answer it.
-
will it be painted in pink with green dots? ::)
Um, that's an emphatic No!
-
Those are two different figures, and neither one is the pilot for your airship..... so that must make it some kind of troop carrier
-

Er, I can't decide if there's a yes-or-no question in there. :(
-
But presumably we now need to guess the exact make and model? :)
Hm, this was a yes-or-no question. I kind of missed that.
The answer is Yes, assuming you want to.

Er, I can't decide if there's a yes-or-no question in there. :(
No, I don't think there is.
Now that I 've got you to ask a yes or no question, does that mean I've won ?
-
Now that I 've got you to ask a yes or no question, does that mean I've won ?
Uh, sure. :D
-
Ok then. Is it a beaverette? :)
Keith :-S
-
Ok then. Is it a beaverette? :)
Nope.
I agree though, it has that sort of shape.
-
Ignoring my own rules, here's another picture:

Keith :?
-
Alright, Mancha, I'll bite.
Is this an actual historical vehicle?
If so, is it an actual historical vehicle that saw service?
-Doc

Is it the morris cs9 then :D
Again, Nope. Thanks for trying though.
-
Is this an actual historical vehicle?
Yes.

I'm afraid I can't answer this question because I don't know the answer.

So is it French ?

No
So, this is an -early- armored car then... narrows the field a bit, while opening up other possibilities. I have a few suspicions...
-Doc
-
Are you having a laugh?
If by that you mean, am I trying to play a trick on people, No. This vehicle existed, and I have seen pictorial evidence of it, on which I am basing my build. Apparently it is obscure.
So far Doc Twilight has been asking the best questions in that his questions potentially help everyone arrive at the answer. Many questions have simply been to ask if the build is a specific entity. These have to be asked, but in the twenty-questions game, I think these specific identity questions are premature. First we need some more questions along the lines of "Is it vegetable?", "Does it walk on four legs?", "Does it have a brain?", etc.
In that they narrow the focus considerably, these are the most revealing questions and answers so far:
Is that an armored car?
Yes

Yes
Is this a British vehicle?
No
Is it French?
No

Will you add a turret or superstructure at a later point (i.e. the currently smooth roof is not indicative of a lack of these items)?
-

Responding to the part of your question not in parentheses: No
And to simultaneously clarify and obfuscate: What may or may not be "the current smooth roof" will remain relatively smooth. :)
-
is it polish?
A wz1929?
-
Sorry if I'm overdoing my part here, Mancha. Feel free to delay answering if this is too soon. But.. I'm intrigued.
Was this vehicle built (or at least designed) for use during the First World War?

No, but I can see why you'd think so.

Don't hold back. You're welcome to guess and end the game.

Alright, a totally wild guess:
Is this to be a Filatov 3-wheeled armoured car?

hmm....
there were many improvised armored cars...

WE HAVE A WINNER! (Whew, I can now change the title of my thread to something more descriptive.) Good job Westfalia Chris. Were you already familiar with this thing, or did you have to search for it?

I had seen it some years ago while browsing for Russian AC pictures (for a Austin-Putilov Halftrack model I never built), and the sheer bizarreness of the design must have struck a chord with me. I´ll admit I pondered long and hard, because that backward-sloping roof and the double-plate driver´s front had me stumped at first. My congratulations, sir, on choosing such a lovely, extraordinary subject. I´m really looking forward on how you´re going to do the frontal wheel assembly.
-
My original intention was to build a WWI or interwar motorcycle, but I finally gave up on making the wheels. The Filatov had popped up while searching for motorcycle inspiration.
-
SO SAY WE ALL! :D
-
An armoured tricycle! The dream of every hyperaggresive four year old boy in existance! lol
So, one last question for your round of twenty questions: Is it pedal powered?

I'm not sure if the Filatov qualifies as a "tricycle". I assume there's an engine under that front bonnet. But if you're looking for an armored tricycle, how about this:

OMG, there is nothing that did not exist. My first impression was that of an armoured sledge but the vehicle is still fantastic with wheels.
And a great thread btw.
-
Errggh, internet-speak.
Very interesting choice. Didn't know of a 3-wheeled vehicle of this nature until now.
-
looking good :), its kind of like a motorised Tachanka :) I thought the 'guess what it is idea went very well' and If I'd had the slightest idea what it was I would have had a go myself :)

Never thought I'd say this about an armoured vehicle but it's kinda cute. :)
