Introducing The Pirate ship "Dirty Oar"

(Builders Notes)
This is one of the configurations of the Firelock games 28mm Plastic Sloop Model. For the price it is the most complete kit you can get on the market at the lowest price point. I wanted to build the model as close to it's original factory configuration as possible but my need for a more ascetically pleasing finished product overtook me. The modifications I made include lowering the Boom for the aft rig, Adding Ratlines that are magnetic, cutting down the cart for a few of the cannons so they actually fit the gun ports, and adding sails and rigging.
If you are starting out in any 28mm Pirate gaming I recommend this model for simply the cost alone. It comes with many little optional parts to make several ships from the same model.

Another cracking build 8)

That is superb. I'm just working on my first plastic sloop now. How did you do the sails and the ratlines?
-
Great work! Clever idea on the magnetized ratlines.

Awesome 👏

A wonderful model and result.

Snapcase,
I have a tutorial on my blog-site for Styrene sail making http://fistfullofseamen.blogspot.com/2023/03/styrene-plastic-sails.html?m=1 (http://fistfullofseamen.blogspot.com/2023/03/styrene-plastic-sails.html?m=1)
I haven’t made a rattling tutorial, yet. I have another sloop that I plan on assembling this weekend; I will see if I can put a page together explaining the materials & assembly. The rattlings are made from a Ferrous wire and string that allows pirate rigging climber miniatures that Old Glory 25’s makes to attach magnetically to them. This of course requires tiny magnets to be glued to the climbers.
I won’t lie about the rattlings, they are time consuming and require many steps to assemble for the pay off of sticking a little guy scaling the rigging. They are super stout when finished.

The ship looks fantastic but the sails are brilliant!

Thank all of you very much for your complements on the Sloop Kit.
I hope to complete the other Sloop configuration from the same 28mm FireLock games kit next weekend. It's completion will make available 36 ships for the convention game I have scheduled July 14th & 15th In Oklahoma's Twistedlords Con.http://twistedlordscon.com/ (http://twistedlordscon.com/)
Firelock's models are an excellent base kit to start with but they can easily be turned into works of art with some after market parts and a little work. I encourage anyone who enjoys Pirate & Age of Sail games to "Pimp your Boats".
