I received my Leviathan box and was eager to try a new paint scheme for the Tyranids. I started with a humble Neurogaunt Nodebeast.
Neurogaunts are a Tyranid bioform, which serve as crucial relays for the Synapse network, and bodyguards for those that would focus it. To fulfill their task, Neurogaunts are hosts for parasitic Neurocytes. Larger nodebeasts can be distinguished by the bulbous growth on their backs, while the smaller gaunts chitter around it with sharp claws and teeth. Besides being able to swarm foes, Neurogaunts also serve to extend the range of Synapse Creatures they protect.

Serious speedpainting here, contrast paint, minimal highlights and some glossy paint afterwards. Works for me...

And a comparison picture with an old Prodos Alien mini that was more or less painted in the same way, I am still blown away by the sheer detail of the Prodos AvP miniatures!
