Title: Looking for 10mm rats and spiders
Post by: Kikuchiyo on 07 July 2023, 08:05:50 PM
I've been trying to track down some rats and spiders that would fit a fantasy setting, so far the smallest I've been able to find are 15mm from alternative armies but I think they might be a bit too big.

Does anyone else have any suggestions

Laran miniatures in France has rat swarms in their not-skaven range https://laranminiatures.bigcartel.com/

Spiders - there are small(ish) ones on the sprues of the wargames Atlantic giant spiders - which make giant spiders in 10mm. These are about the same size as the Pendraken ones, but more 3d and more animated.

Thanks I was looking at Laran the other days but missed them I'll take a look

I thought the Pendraken spiders were massive I wanted dog rather than horse size

I’ve not seen any spiders that small.

Some of the 15mm ranges have swarms - one of my group has some of the beetles -  they might have spiders too. I’m struggling to remember the name though.

Pendraken have some spiders (of the giant style) - some have riders some do not https://www.pendraken.co.uk

Magister have giant rats https://www.magistermilitum.com/fmc620-giant-rats-x12.html but they may be too big (they pull chariots or have riders).

Swarms for the rats might work but I'm thinking the alternative armies spiders are the smallest aroud

Reaper miniatures make some swarm bases with multiple rats or spiders, but they’re piles of critters, rather than individuals and probably not ideal for dungeon crawls.

I wonder if sculpting some with green stuff and making a press mould with green stuff or the blue meltable stuff would be feasible. They turn out a bit rough, but a tidy paint job should sort things out.

Perfect Six (https://perfectsixscenics.co.uk/shop) have 6mm RS1 Rats & Spiders @ £1.20.

Bit big for 6mm IMHO but should do for 10mm.

Both alternative armies (massive even for 15mm) and the perfect 6 stuff (need to be double the size) we're a bust

The search continues...

I was recently after 15mm rats - I found Etsy had what I wanted from 3D printers. I'm pretty sure that many of the printers I looked at had the option of different sizes

Great minds ; :D

Having recently picked up some rescaled beastmen I thought of that too, reached out to a couple in the UK but no luck so far

Looks like I may have a winner, they are also happy to scale down some terrain too
