Title: Help! - Five Parsec "Engineer" figure
Post by: Ragnar on July 08, 2023, 06:07:05 AM
So, Five Parsecs has it's claws into me at the moment so I am getting my crew together.  I have the K'Erin sorted as I'll use a Tau Firewarrior but I am stuck for a lanky alien to serve as an Engineer.  It needs to be alien looking, slim and in combat gear.  I just had a thought that a 40k Eldar might suit but honestly, I'd rather give my money to a smaller business.  Any ideas?

CP Models sells some 28mm sci-fi figures and might have something that fits your vision of what an Engineer would look like. One example is here: https://cpmodels.co.uk/shop/ash07-hent/ (https://cpmodels.co.uk/shop/ash07-hent/)

There are a variety of others that might also work. One good thing about CP Models is that most of their figures are available as singles. The drawback is that many of the aliens only have one pose available, so you can’t really fill more than one crew slot with the same species.

I got a 'tall' alien ambassador & two guards by choosing a 32mm 'scale'
when ordering some figures off etsy.

Good tips, thanks people.   :)

I'd be happy with the Cp Model alien.  And the fact he is pointing a finger means he could be working a keypad or something sciencey.   lol

You might find something suitable in the Crooked Dice 7TV Sci-FI/Colony 87 range: https://crooked-dice.co.uk/product-category/sci-fi/

If you are interested in 3D printing, Cyberforge on Patreon just released a set of figures they designed in cooperation with Modiphius, specifically for 5 Parsecs.

Thanks all.

@Darkson; I had thought of Crooked Dice but hadn't yet seen anything that suited.

@gregmite; This was vaguely in my periphery but I have not yet got into printing so had not really had a close look.

Well, there is always the Oathmark Elves for the bodies (saying that I am using some Frostgrave Soldiers with elf heads as Witcher style elf freedom fighters/terrorists).

Spiral Arm have some suitably strange aliens (the heads might be an issue).

Now there's an option I hadn't considered.  And Maelstrom's/Spiral Arm are a range that I didn't know about.  Thanks!

I now have some Aliens arriving from CP Models, so I'll see how I go with them.

Now I have the same question but in 15mm.

Since I'm using my own background rather than the 5 Parsecs and since I'm using 20mm rather than 28mm figures I've had to come up with my own interpretations.

As a result my engineers are short guys who look like the Ood from Dr. Who courtesy of C. P. Models 15mm sci-fi range.

If I could have sourced figures at a reasonable price I think they'd have been Jawas  but Ood are nice too.

As the quote attributed to Douglas Bader says:
"Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the adherence of fools"  lol lol lol

My take on a couple of CP Models which might work. I see the first one has already been mentioned:

Oops, didn't realise this thread was still kicking!

Thanks again for all the suggestions.  I ended up getting this chap from CP Models.

I love the CP Aliens, some great figures in there to choose from. :)
