Title: A Crimean War Project in 15mm
Post by: OB on July 08, 2023, 08:19:10 PM
I’m refurbishing my 15mm Crimean War collection.  Progress is brisk.

The figures are from Minifigs and Irregular.

By the way, if anyone has information on Russian cavalry flags it would be greatly appreciated.

If you would like to see more here is the link.

I’m making steady progress in rejuvenating my Crimean War Project.  Now it is mainly Minifigs 15mm.  They are old but very nice figures, albeit single pose.  The command figures tend to liven up the units.

Flags continue to be from Maverick Miniatures.

My French contingent for the Crimean War is nearly done.  So far I have mainly used Minifigs 15mm.

They have been around for a long time but are very elegant sculpts.  Single pose of course but I think the finished units look fine.

Those guys all look good.  In particular, I like the Highlanders...

A wonderful collection you are putting together. Always good to see MiniFigs 15mms arrayed for battle. Probably the most "toy soldier" looking of toy soldiers.

Thanks fellows.

I'm going to be trying out Barry Hilton's Republic to Empire with these lads.

For anyone thinking of gaming the Crimean War without too much outlay Pendraken have a nice 10mm range and Irregular Miniatures offer British, French, Russian and Turkish Armies for £35.00 each post free.

It is true about Minifigs, the definitive Toy Soldier look.  Irregular look more Campaign by contrast.

Awesome to see thank you.
My first period I collected in 15mm was Minifigs Crimean War in 1988.
They have been stop and go since.
I have been rebasing them to Volley and Bayonet.
Been meaning to get on with the last bits.

Thank you both.

I finished the French Artillery today.  Irregular Miniatures figures this time.  I think they look good.

Yes, I rebased too.  Something I rarely did when younger now I often find myself doing it.

Tomorrow I'll post my Turkish contingent.  Currently all from Minifigs.

My Turkish contingent for the Crimean War is nearly done.  Most of them are from Minifigs.  Old figures and very much in the Minifigs style.

I have a few from Irregular that I have yet to paint.  You can see their Bashi Bazouks on my blog.

Nice work.  I do like to see some Turks and yours look great.  :D  There's a great mix of nice uniforms in the Crimea.

I’m one base short of finishing my Russian Infantry for the Crimean War.  The figures used are from Irregular and Minifigs.

I have based the units more or less for Barry Hilton’s Republic to Empire.  I think gives the right look to the units.  They will also work for other rule systems.

My Crimean war British Infantry Brigades are now on my blog.  There are Guards, Highlanders, Line Battalions and the Rifles.  The figures are 15mm from Minifigs and Irregular.  I find these mutually compatible in most cases.

I have used a lot of flags from Maverick Models.  A good product and an excellent service.

I have also reproduced Captain Temple Godman’s account of the “Thin Red Streak” incident.  It is illuminating.

Having scoured the bits box I realised I had enough for another 3 British Battalions.  Here is the first, HM 88th all Minifigs save the two Irregular flag bearers.

There are quite a lot of Crimean War Russian Cavalry on my blog.  All from Irregular or Minifigs and in 15mm.

I looked at how the Russian cavalry performed and decided a “trained” rating was best for the regulars.

There is also some information on British Heavy Brigade losses to artillery post the Heavy Brigade action.

I have nearly finished my British Cavalry for the Crimean War.  Here is a snap of the Light Brigade.
