Hello,
I am enjoying Saga, Lion Rampant and DBA, and I find that those rules have a lot to go for them in terms of fun afternoon to spend with friends at the club.
Do you have suggestions for a ruleset upgrade towards more historical flavour?
Ideally, the game should not be to demanding in number of figures, max 100. Bonus point for the later Crusades, but we also have a lot Viking/Saxons.
thank you

OK, Hail Caesar is accessible and has lists for the Crusades. You could start small and build up.
Warhammer Ancient Battles Version 1 & 1.5 plus the Shieldwall Supplement would be perfect for Anglo Danish and Viking warfare.
Just a couple of ideas to get you going as I don't want to overwhelm you with rules etc.

thanks a lot Atheling, I will look into these rules.

what are people's thoughts on the following rulesets to upgrade without scaring people at the club?
-To the Strongest!
-Triumph!
-Sword and Spear

Never heard of Triumph so can't comment .Sword and Spear has a goodly following so there must be something in there. TTS is my personal favourite but you will need a gridded mat and maybe some chits. I've found that they give a good game and are excellent for "big game" as there is no measuring which speeds things up no end. The only observation I would make is that I suspect v2 is just round the corner. Maybe early next year?

My 'upgrade from skirmish':

About as 'clear' as first version D&D or DBA ;D
It's a 'sand-pit' set of rules with a campaign/legacy 'thingy'.
Basic concept is rolling X dice and needing one or more 5's or 6's. Cards determine which of your Heroes gets to be the focus of the Story.
