Very nice. Only quibble is too many stars on that flag.

That’s the beauty of Hollywood style Dr Daly, historical accuracy is immaterial, it’s all about showbiz kid 👍🏻
-
Great stuff - that is a proper horde of Boxers, I recognise a fair few of the figures from different ranges.
Do you have other western detachments, or are the Yankees on their own?
-

In the interest of accuracy, I'm not a Dr. D and R are just my first and middle initials. :)
Your work is impressive in both execution and quantity, wish I could equal it!
-
@ Lord Raglan, great stuff indeed! You sir don’t do anything half way, do you, lol. I look forward to seeing more of this collection as it grows.
-
Great looking figures, My Lord.
Love them. :-*
-
Love those Marines!
-
Fantastic figures superbly painted! Well done!
-
Looking good as usual mate!

Oh yes there is lots more in the pipeline, including Japanese, Russian, Austrian and of course British. This is about half of the generic Boxers, with another 120 to paint.

Excellent, looking forward to seeing these. I didn’t know the Austrian’s where involved - will have to do some research there
-
Great looking figures, My Lord.
Love them. :-*
Most of the Boxers are from our friends at North Star, I always wanted to game this period but until this range came on the market, I wasn’t tempted.
-
Great Movie, damn those US forces look great (as do the Chinese). I love the look of the US uniforms during this time period.

Yes cool aren’t they
-
Those Boxers are very colorful. And I like your US Marines (though I'll go with a more tan to brown look for hat and trousers). Reminds me of a very large pile of figures waiting to get worked on in the Lead Mountain Range.
-
Absolutely stunning. What an accomplishment!

WOW!!!! Impressve amount of work.

Absolutely lovely!

Cheers boys 👍🏻
Hopefully I can show you the first part of the layout on the table soon and maybe a little test game.
Lots more to add to this project.
-
"One simply can’t possibly do the Boxer Rebellion without a suitable canal on the tabletop" < in complete agreement with that statement.
You've done a lovely job (though not green enough to be the Jade River! lol) and love the extra touches with the boats, especially the dilapidated one. Mine shall be similar in a broad way to yours - but more green and with a fisherman or two in their boats for a bit of comic relief.
Curious as to what you used as the base for the river given the 'texture' showing through, sort of looks like a product by Lemax for winter village water but not quite that with the sworls?
And a rather nice fish pond and garden with a clear Chinese culture influence showing.
-
You always have the nicest things mate! 👍
-
Sweet Mother Mary McCreary! That canal looks grand... :D

Pt 1 of the build finished. A mighty fortress is our God, and in Him we are safe for time and eternity. Shall we murmur if we have less of time than we expected? The less of time, the more of heaven. The briefer life, earlier mortality.

Lovely work all around.
And, it being China, no matter how many civilians we add into the game, we can always add A LOT more - and still not have enough.

Great figures and buildings, truly inspiring stuff.

Wow. I spent a lot time in China and even lived there for awhile -- not c.1900 but long enough ago to have seen more old architecture than is left standing these days -- and "Hollywood Style" or not, the combination of those excellent building models and your great paintwork and terrain finishes on them, reminds me of those days. My only quibble is that back on Page 2 of this thread I wish you expanded one of your multi building bases into a full-blown Siheyuan (courtyard house) with buildings on all 4 sides of one walled compound -- but I do understand tabletop practicality! The canal is fantastic, as are the tile roofs -- and those U.S. Marines! I can't wait to see your full-blown tabletop set-up for this game, which I will be sharing with family & friends here and in China.

Gareth,
I am sure that your friends are going to have a great time gaming on that board with those minis!
-
A great board! I especially like the river and the bridge! Would love to play on that table. :-*
-
I love how colorful the board is, most of the tables on these forums are not so cheerful.
-
Thank you boys 🙏
I have always fancied gaming the Boxer Rebellion, but I never liked any of the miniature ranges until our friends at North Star released their new range 👌
-
Lovely! Lovely, I tell ya! Can't wait to see reports of games played! ;)
-
As mentioned, practical considerations come in to play but so far I only see your German embassy building so far. Does this mean a highly fictional campaign set within the Boxer Rebellion rather than the fighting for the legations? Or perhaps there is a limited set of options in the 3D printing world? Doesn't really matter in the end, just curious after a quick review of the full thread and not seeing any other legation related buildings.
Look forward to hearing about how your games go.

A Squadron of Imperial Japanese Cavalry. The collection will not feature too many mounted units, so these lads and some Bengal Lancers will probably do it in total. For the Boxers I have a unit of BoB Chinese Bandits in the pipeline.

Looks excellent! I hope that you had great fun tuning the scenario.

Very good looking gaming space - and lots of curious bits of scatter terrain. Well done.
Especially like the koi in the pond. Well, as long as you didn't filch any hatchlings from your real koi pond and freeze them and then encapsulate them in clear resin. That would be over much - dedicated, but over much. ;)
Stunning stuff.

As Major Lewis begins to lead his US Marine Detachment out of the city square, the Boxers began to swarm onto his position from the western canal. To assist the Americans, a combined Japanese infantry and cavalry detachment enter the location from East.

Seeing the emerging threat in his intended escape route, Major Lewis orders his men to form a hasty defensive of the square, the Gatling gun cover the roads north. The Boxers hyped up on religious fervor, began charging at the double across the canal and towards the barricades.

As the Americans see a horde of Boxers charging at them from numerous streets and alleyways, Major Lewis decides to fallback into the square and form line to hopefully deliver a crashing volley. Meanwhile, more Japanese Infantry thread their way through the Imperial Gardens.

The Boxers continue to mass along the canal, including the Red Spears who are deadly close combat specialists. Having dropped the first wave of Chinese, the Americans bounce back, taking casualties along the way. More sneaky Boxers work their way into the northern streets.

The pressure was on the British to hold the position and protect Baroness Ivanoff from capture by the Boxers. Major Lewis was injured in an earlier assault but he was still in the fight with his standard bearer. Can the 8 Nation Alliance prevail and save the lady’s virtue?

A devastating charge by the Red Spears drove back the British Navy. In true Hollywood style, Major Matt Lewis threw himself forward into the fray in a final bide to protect his love. The Spears killed him but he did enough to weaken their will to fight, leaving the Baroness safe.

Yes, yes, all very beautiful! But what is the story of the nun running around all over the game - the game with the Baroness and sadly demised Lewis? Inquiring minds want to know. lol
Oh, and what is the fate of the infamous necklace - or was it already sold for the medicine?
Looks like lots of fun in an ideal setting.

The Boxers were now in a good position to block the route to provincial capital. The Japanese cavalry had dismounted at this point and began firing at the Boxers from the cover of a small farm. Due to the speed of the Boxer's advance, the US Marines decided to hastily form a firing line.

The Japanese Infantry advanced slowly, as their capture was old and required carrying by his servants. Due to the fact the US Marines had got themselves into an isolated position, they were charged by a large mob of spear armed Boxers and driven off under the weight of numbers.

The small farmstead on the outskirts of the village was quickly becoming the “Alamo” of the 8 Nation Alliance. The Japanese attempted to form line to the left, whilst the British Naval Troops did the same on the right. The Boxer fire-armed troops formed a line and exchanged several rounds of fire with the Japanese Infantry, putting a great deal of shock on the prisoner escort detachment. The Boxers on the left were now in a great position to launch their “wild charge” .

Given the deteriorating situation for the 8 Nation Alliance, they decided to withdraw from the battlefield. The cruel Japanese Infantry did not hesitate to execute their prisoner & his servants. As a result, we called the game a draw, but the Boxers confidently held the position.

Lovely additions in those Oshiro buildings. That man does do nice work. And he's threatened to do actual Chinese focused buildings in the past - even in 15 mm.
Alas, the temple on the previous page seems to be lacking photos now - at least just now for me.
