Hello LAF,
has anyone else browsed the forum recently and suddenly got redirected to a blank domain that claimed the Forum needs cookies to funtion or some such? I even had it just now when trying to post a reply to a discussion in the ancients board?
Just wondering. I've run the Security Task Manager and also did a system check, so I do feel confident in doubting that it is a virus on my end. Maybe an odd glitch or some such?
Looking forward to hearing what others might make of this!

Happening to me too.
And the site is running much slower than usual.
-
I haven't run into this.
Although around here, I would hope for biscuits please.

Yes-ish - I click on a subject board and get redirected to something that looks like the domain name is available for sale/unclaimed. If I go to a different board then it's usually fine!?

Yup! Much like Ray has said. It is rather weird. Usually going back eventually solves the issue.
-
I actually clicked on the cookie thing and got redirected to some weird place with a very similar name as the forum.
Now worrying that the site may have been hacked.
-
No, so far that hasn't happened to me.
-
I got this once yesterday - next link worked fine, and has been fine today
-
Yes, it's directed me to a vacant domain twice today and on two different PCs (at home and at work). It was also very slow a few hours ago.
-
Yeah it is weird to say the least. But I am glad I am not the only one and that it's now being looked at.
-
I haven’t had the cookie thing, but it has definitely been running slow today :(
-
Just had it....on Harry's Joan Armatrading link
-
Here's what I meant by the 'vacant domain' page
-
Yeah, that's what I got.
-
Me too.
-
Ditto.
-
Same here.
-
Me too
EDIT: just happened again
-
And me. :?
-
Yeah I've had it too. Just now as I tried to view this particular topic too!
-
I just had the blank screen with a button saying "This Site Uses Cookies" fault when trying to click on a topic just now (2339hrs UK time), followed by a slow load when I tried to go back an try again, after which it worked normally.
-
I have just had it trying to reply to a topic

So domain ownership is fine, but depends what they might be doing with the hosting etc, and whether the site is being cached.
for me its on a server currently in germany but depending on country/location - eg outside Europe site might be cached somewhere else.
I have not been onsite for a couple days so not been hit with cookie nonsense or redirects, but looks more like temporary no access to DNS server to give correct info. so redirects - which is wierd - dns propagation from at least 4 dns servers as expected.
TTL is long. so again ok ish.
hopefully it will clear up as seems most likely dns failure to reach what the link actually goes to so the provider redirects to some other crap eg - sites available do you want it sites. annoying but not the worst thing that can happen
-
Ditto. I normally go straight to unread topics via my browser which gave that. When I took out the unread part it went to the home page albeit a little slowly.
-
and boom cookie crappy advert time time
not going to leadadventure. its a redirect to ionus parkinguk js script to sedoparking
specifically redirecting:
page code
<script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript" src="//sedoparking.com/frmpark/leadadventureforum.com/IONOSParkingUK/park.js"></script>
suggest speaking with provider, they are sending to parking - which can generate them some revenue but is only meant to be done with Unused site names that have been "parked" for later use/selling to generate add revenue.
it suggests there is an issue with their setup related to LAF and/or their dns provision - depends on what service they are providing.
Or as google says:
"Sedo Domain Parking offers domain parking services for unused domains. Sedo Holding Group. sedoparking.com.
domain to generate revenue while that domain is otherwise inactive. Similar to affiliate advertising, you make money based on how many users land on your site and click the advertisements."
so its "legit" in one way but not when the site in question is active/live - so someone needs to "oi" Ionus a bit about it?
suggests they changed something recently that needs unchanging. as whatever they are doing has been fine since 2018 until now.

I keep getting this:
-
I get that too, every time I trey to view a topic.
-
I've passed this thread on to the higher ups.
-
What browser(s?) are you using, as I've not encountered this issue at all via Chrome (PC) or Chrome Mobile (phone)?
I know it shouldn't make a difference, but if it's not affecting everyone...
-
not browser issue, it won't care which/what flavour your using, tis how they are redirecting your requests.
I only had once so far on chrome/PC - but easy enough to track after getting it

I am using Firefox, should be the latest one as well. It happens now and then. For instance I could look through the new topics and topics I've previously commented on without a problem, but it then just suddenly jumps to the site that Mad Lord Snapcase has screencapped. It has decreased in the past few days though!
-
I've had this happen twice today; once trying to view a topic and just now when attempting to log in.
-
Twice for me as well.
Once clicking on a thread and once clicking "reply" right here and now.
-
Had it twice also, once when I went to go to the next page and another when I tried to answer a post
-
I had this three times yesterday. Going to a different page & then returning
got rid of it each time.
-
I don't get the cookies thing (possibly blocked by an ad-blocker or pi-hole), but I do get, and have just had, a completely blank page.
Going back and retrying cleared it, but the site has been sluggish again the past couple of days, coinciding with the return of the blank page :(
-
I've been getting this a lot over the past 2 days :?
A bit blood annoying Lets Make that really bloody annoying, since i posted this its been happening every other post i look at >:(
-
I've just got this error this evening.
-
Yep, same here.
-
Yep, I got this repeatedly for a period yesterday evening - but went away after a bit, and seems fine again this morning. Would suggest checking something around DNS settings at the server end?
-
DNS at service providers end - not likely LAF server/site itself - as your requests are being redirected before getting to LAF if its the same type as before.
I not had any issues so likely distributed DNS service of some sort and its had some "issues" again.
I not had a problem for a while... I see with a couple quick checks some service providers timeout in some regions currently, but that varies and only a few places - mexico/ new zealand etc, but other providers are fine in those regions so - variable
-
I too had these problems yesterday evening. So far today...no problems.
-
There is an issue with Data Storage, the IT guys at Wargames Illustrated who host the site on their server, are getting it fixed.
-
yay
-
First time for me, couldn’t get onto site after 8pm, just straight to cookies site.
Looks to be OK again this morning.

Thanks Nick, and also thanks to the WI guys. 8)
-
It's becoming frequent because of the data storage issues, WI are going to have to make some changes because it crashes their site each time as well. I think they'll be getting in touch with us all soon about it.
