Title: MANDALORIAN (Art work)
Post by: has.been on September 07, 2023, 05:48:25 PM
Will the Hive mind advise me as to the best of the published books.
I am mostly interested in the scenery (building, terrain & vehicles)
rather than figures.
Thanks for reading.

Does anybody have any of the books?
&, if yes, which one(s) and what do you think of it/them?

This is the official season 1 one amazon link (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Art-Star-Wars-Mandalorian-Season/dp/141974870X/ref=sr_1_5)

There is a season 2 one as well, which I don't have (more a lack of shelf space on my part than anything to do with the book)

It's a pretty beefy coffee table book, filled with concept art and sketches from the show. If it's eye-candy you're after, it's definitely worth a look.

Thanks Zemjw. It is eye candy that I'm after.
I would like to make some Wargames scenery similar to the Mandalorian world(s).

The book I linked is 95% character stuff - concepts for figures, clothing and weapon designs etc.

There are a few vehicle pictures and a handful of environments, but they're all in the style of the still pictures that were shown at the end of each episode, so very concept art heavy.

I would definitely check out the book before buying it, as there's not a lot of scenery inspiration in it  :(

It pre-dates the Mandalorian, but Star Wars Locations is worth a look for scenery ideas - link (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Star-Wars-Complete-Locations-DK/dp/1465452729/ref=pd_vtp_h_pd_vtp_h_sccl_4/257-4428482-1418823)

All The Art of Star Wars books are all great, I have the Mandalorian season 1, as well as all the Sequel Trilogy (TFA, TLJ, RoS) and Rogue One and The Phantom Menace ones. And still looking to pick up Mando season 2 and Solo.
Really nice treasure troves of Art. The Rogue One one has a few nice pics of Jeddah and some market stalls, and the sequel ones also have a few interesting location and terrain pics, but like Zemjw said all are mostly character designs, they do all show some plot and design points that have later been abandoned, some of which are quite interesting.

Another one to consider is the Star Wars Rebels art book - link (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1506710913/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title)

Rebels focused, as per the title, but quite a few environments and vehicles on display as well
