Title: Force on Force - a couple of questions
Post by: H.M.Stanley on September 21, 2023, 07:19:38 PM
Hi. I intend to start my FoF journey with the first Asymmetrical Scenerio from the RB, the attempted rescue and extraction of a couple of Contractors by two sections of USMC.

Is it still a 2x2 Board even if I'm using 28mm figures?

Also, is Out of Contact Movement still used by Insurgents even if the scenarios doesn't specifically say? I would think that OoCM is the default position for Insurgents.

Many thanks

I was a playtester for Force on Force.  That scenario is designed for a 2x2 table, even for 28mm figs.  BUT, I have played it on a 4x4 table.  All you have to do is give the Americans a few more turns to complete the mission.

As for Out of Contact Movement (OoCM), it is only used in scenarios which state so.  My suggestion would be to first play it on a 2x2 board without OoCM.  Then, fiddle with it by increasing the board size and/or adding OoCM.  Again, that's just my suggestion.

Hope this helps.   :)

That's kind of you, thank you Capn.

Adding Civilian Mobs looks interesting too. What do you think?

Civilian Mobs add to the uncertainty and if you're Free World forces they can be a real challenge to completing your mission.I started with a few but it didn't take long before the collection grew lol. I'd recommend using them and any other bits to keep it interesting, I remember a game we had where wandering Goats gave away the FW force hidden positions, the FW player wasn't a happy chappy to say the least. . . ..

Goats giving away an ambush position. Genius (grin).

I have a dozen or so Afghan civilians, enough to represent three "mobs" perhaps.

Goats! I need goats.

I used sheep in one of my games, made a good laugh

Cheers

As mentioned already, civilian mobs adds a twist (albeit an interesting one) to the whole affair.

And we've had barking (and attacking) dogs in games, too...

I'm the Bush Wars' Farm scenario there is mention of the Civilians having access to shotguns. I would imagine that they're AP2 or 3 at short range but I can't find any  other mention
Stars etc.

How have people dealt with these? Thanks

edit: ignore me, I've found the reference in the main RB
