Title: Hi all
Post by: Dean on September 28, 2023, 07:48:08 PM
Long lapsed UK gamer who has found the bug again, might need a little support, when I say “long” my 25mm figures look weird against the 28s that seem to be the ‘thing’ now hahahaha

Welcome.  25 mm, 28mm, 'heroic' 28 or 32mm.... some of my collections show size increases over time. lol

Thanks for the welcome guys.

@Syrinx0, yep thankfully I spotted GW is 32mm before thinking about where I would start, suspect I'll steer clear of that, but guidance on who does 28mm verses 28mm heroic would be good. I am using Victrix as a starting point, love how good plastics have become!

@Moriarty - Berkshire, UK.

I'll be painting a Viking army for SAGA so expect some questions in the relevant section, the rules look nice and a skirmish game fits as I'll likely get bored after 60 miniatures in the same style and want to switch to something else  lol

another "welcome" aboard.

Scale creep and variation is "normal" - you end up with a lot of variance, and let your glasses do most of the blurring and don't worry about it to much!

Just hang around and have a good read, there's plenty of information and advice available here...

Either way you seem to be leaning more to "true" rather than "heroic" scale which is easier on the wallet sometimes than GW!

If you’re in Berks, you might be interested in the .oval clubs for prospective opponents?

As long as the troops for both sides are the same size, it does not matter.
This is easiest with Skirmish and DBA type games, as fewer figures needed.
I have a matched pair (Carthaginian & Republican Roman) for DBA. both sets
of figures were sold as 25mm. I am currently garnering Hinchcliffe (25mm)
Ancients for more 'Matched Pairs' by picking up (cheaply) figures from e-bay.
This is a bit slower than ordering a complete 28mm pair of armies, but I have
plenty  of other projects to keep me busy. :D :D :D
