The ambulance is white not current yellow, but since my figure cover 70,s upto current, it will do.
Still need police van, then emergency service’s covered.

I would heartily second that, in the VBCW and World War Two ranges there are buildings that would most certainly stand the test of time and look right in a modern setting.

Post by: Capt Troy Tempest on October 14, 2023, 05:41:04 PM: Yes, aggro mini’s set me off on this project. There was allot going on in U.K. at time, so thought I would have ago at civil unrest.
Problem being lost interest in wargaming for couple of years. No one near to game with. But things changing now, moving south to be near son and grandkids.

Started looking at sites again, need to get back into painting, bet most have dried up now.
This is going to be my work in progress thread.
Will start story next year on different thread.

So as not to cause problems the two sides will be the YES or NO’s, fore or against. In’s or out’s and for easy reference on gaming board, reds vs blues by colour of arm bands.

Please keep the suggestion coming, looking at crooked dice earlier, even figures from apocalyptic games can work.

Red lion very nice, like the rendering to first floor. Ordering next week. Thank you.

Wild in The Streets by Slow Death Games has some great figures for antisocial youth subcultures, including a punk gang and a set of skinheads including one waving a football scarf. As far as I can see they were sold in the UK by Corehammer and are currently out of stock but an internet search might bring up some in stock somewhere.

Post by: carlos marighela on October 22, 2023, 12:00:51 AM: Just a tip and not a commentary on the specific kit, I don't have any CF models. A strip of balsa glued into the interior angles of the corners of the building, adds to the strength of the joins and also helps square the angles.

PVA glue is what I have used on most of my MDF structures. I did use a stronger wood filler/ adhesive on a couple and perhaps ironically, they were the ones to come apart at the seams, albeit mostly as part of a move and poor storage.

The shop 'interior' is actually photos stuck onto the flat walls. The same was done with the terrace windows.

Arkwrights shop windows are a composite of several bits: photo of a shop window, scaled posters/advertising, odds n ends in various (small) fonts. All put together before the window is glazed with clear plastic. The shop door window is the one from the series.

The terrace net curtains are printed out from photographs. They are cut to size & glued into the window recess. Next a piece of clear plastic as the glass. I then edge it with thin plastic strip for the frame. All the windows are done like this, some with net curtains, others left plain.

I’ve decided if it looks right then it’s OK.

With all Christmas toys instore now started looking for a coach which I’ll turn into burnt out wreck.
Most I’ve seen so far would be great for 20mm scale.

My other vehicles have a wheel base of 43mm, any suggestions. There are collectors models out there but don’t want to pay those sort of prices for something I’m going to destroy.

Need to find large Asda we have only medium sized in Stockport one aisle of toys and no buses checked yesterday. Neither “the entertainer.” or smiths toys, theirs are not wide enough, again great for 20mm but not 28mm.

There is company in US that has part of their range available but not figures and cost a fortune to ship to U.K.

It does look right. And we once had a bus with passengers show up on its scheduled run in one of our US Prohibition Era gangster games. They ended up getting caught in the cross fire between the cops and the gangsters...

You are looking for something that's a cross between a public school boy and an undertaker presumably. I would look at either although finding a figure wearing an Eton tailcoat and top hat* is likely to be tricky. Someone did a range of public school boys for the VBCW IIRC and there are undertaker figures out there.

Grey black as a base followed by lighter grey dry brushes. I usually end up with silver grey or a little ivory as the last one. But essentially you can start with lighter greys depending on what you are trying to match.

In kitchen glueing sand to bases when phone rang. Came back to find figure base welded to kitchen work surface. Managed to free base, but now circle of set superglue on worktop.
How to I remove it without damaging surface if worktop.

Post by: Cubs on March 25, 2024, 02:26:32 PM: Spray with WD40 and set a hair dryer on it. Heat loosens the grip and the WD40 will help it slide off. Acetone (nail varnish remover) will do it, but could knacker your worktop. If that doesn't work, maybe just hot soapy water and a scouring sponge.

Add a little dark blue (Vallejo Dark Prussian Blue is ideal) to black. Layer up by adding tiny amounts more until the black has a blue sheen. Final highlight add a little pale blue-grey to the mix for edge highlights to the pockets, collar and creases.

Victorian, but the same principle applies....
