Title: What you painted in... November
Post by: OSHIROmodels on 13 November 2023, 10:28:23 AM
Quite a few years ago we had a little feature here called 'What I painted in...' and it was basically a thread each month where people could post pictures of what they had completed in that particular month (What I painted in September for example).

I thought it would be a good idea to start the feature again. No rules, just post pictures of what you've managed to complete in a particular month. It can be anything really, figures, terrain, vehicles, tokens but lets just keep it to wargames related material  ;)

I'll start a new thread at the beginning of every month but anyone can contribute to the threads  :)

I'll kick things off with a few samurai that I've finished off.

I think this is a wonderful idea and, judging by the quality you two have already displayed, it would be a frequent view for me.

Just to lower the quality of brushwork somewhat here's the museum furniture I scratch built and painted mostly in October.

……..November (mainly):

A few Western figures for my son who wants to replace the tokens in a board game (Colt Express) with figures. These are mainly Black Scorpion - first time I’ve had resin figures and, to be honest, didn’t really enjoy the experience of painting them:

I agree- I love seeing what other people are up to. Myself, I have been having a GW kind of month. A buddy's adult nephew has discovered 40K and has been keen to play. After a couple of games I realised I needed some more firepower; hence, 4 Grey Knights with psycannons:

Although started in October, I finished these Horsemen of Khand the first week of November:

One more GK to finish then it's back to cleaning and priming Bloody Miniatures' A Chorus Of Disapproval.  :D

and GW Chaos Knight, Runewars Elf and Massive Darkness (I think) Rogue

I hope this proves popular.  I know I'll use it to inflict my efforts onto everyone now and then and it might actually help improve my output.

Splendid idea James.
This year in spite of the work overload I (so far) managed to paint something every month, except one.
Here is October's total output:

[blank space]

(Later)
I got it wrong! That was August; but it's even worse, I cannot remember what I painted in October!  I know I painted two models as I keep a tally, but which?! ;D

(Later still)
nothing some research won't fix, I actually posted pics on the forum! And in my defence, one of them was finished on 1 October, so....

The Forgeworld breaching drill - when I posted it, the drill model was no longer in production, now Forgeworld itself is gone  :(

(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxax0nHQdG4dhc83A4JdwiMzPE5rWk_HbMDb1JaPNqpAo4ilSte_R4Wsklm6Zsiec8xEXYr6OmYaPw4eRzovfCa1ADp34-XaK00J5dgBo24QxDfF0H1vpqYqGiZxq9bNlkiAnKtgf6yop5mZnpDPCXN3ZTN8OtRE8pGIZfMNF-Zl_5Z-GB8C8PfwkEow/w640-h480/20231001_181505.jpg)

And a piece of debris for my pallet-base project.

More stuff done - 19 figures - I'm on fire it appears

GW Goblin Town goblins this time.  Scored off eBay for a song and when I first got these I thought they really were horrible models.

I had bought them to use in my (faltered badly) paint up and play project for the Silver Bayonet.

Many months later (as in now) I looked at them again and thought they could actually be very versatile - fantasy goblins, mutants in post apoc games, space vermin, zombies or even deep ones at a push - so in a mad adrenaline rush I slapped some paint and washes on them.  Eyeless not Conan (also just about finished except for highlights and peepers) for scale.

Strictly speaking not an entirely painted in November; the page is.

The old Thaumaturge from GameZone was painted ages ago but I found the little page holding the hors, which is a part of the kit, deep down in the lead pile and thought I'd complete it. I have intended to use the thaumaturge as a Maester for my Game of Thrones project. The page/apprentice, even though in renaissance garb, reminds me of Egg from J.R.R. Martin's "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" stories.

I had a joyously productive November and finished a good two thirds of the minis for a convention game scheduled for January at a little local game day.

The working title is "Devils' Dance in Bruegelburg", pitting most of the old Bruegelburg range from Lead Adventure Miniatures against Eureka's Boschian demon range, with haywains and hellmouths in a Tabletop World townscape.

I wanted some frontier colonist type, so these are a mix of Frostgrave, Stargrave, Fireforge,  Great Escape Games and Warlord German sprues.

The dwarf was an attempt to convert one of the GW steampunk figs to female. Not completely sure it worked  :?

The dog things are Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures

Mostly contrast slap chop, but I highlighted most of them as well

I like those a lot, they definitely fit the frontier colonists role.

Lovely swamp monsters

Thank you.

First time I've made anything with more sculpting than kitbashing and I am really pleased with them.

Although I just sealed and based these guys this weekend, they were painted in November for the most part:

Good'n. I have a fair number of those variags awaiting completion to. Can't decide on the emblem though.

What is it that you are using as a matt for the sand dune?

It is fabric I saw in a fabric store; unfortunately I have no idea what it is called.  :(

The dogs came from the bottom of a deep lead pile TBH so may not be able to track them down for you...
I think they were ERM but as he has closed up shop I cannot check  :'(  Not even sure if I have any more but will check tomorrow and see if there are any markings on its base / bag if I can find one.

Hear, hear, love those grand skellies, nice models too, apart from the paintjob which is perfect  8)

Here's the stuff I finished (I didn't do all the p-js in November, time, work, etc.).

Squig and hormagaunt - just like my cats, the little 'nid turned his nice green eyes away as I was taking the pic. She's the prototype for my Leviathan box. Prototype SM should appear in my December tally (he's finished, but has to wait for his pic).

First the gaunt and now the haunt, apparently fleeing the oversize cannon of the tiny little Viking ship mech from Scythe.

Landing pad, from modular Deathzone - I cannot resist a combination of red, yellow and grey, they seem to be the colours I most love painting.

Not finished, not painted, but what's going on here? A weird, 1:600 (1:570 if you are sticklers) Tirpitz conversion, after I cut off the hull to have her sit flat on the table - a feat I miraculously managed without shedding any blood! No idea what I'll use her for, but there will be a Bismarck conversion too, a little bit different from this one. The two sister ships are some of my oldest models, purchased in the late 1980s or early 1990s at the latest.
